MBB: Wazzu @ 7

Sorry if this was already posted, been doing that lately, lol. These games are very important. WSU 10/4, UO 11/3. Last time @ WSU probably for a long time, need every win after so many injuries...make this a big time game for the Duck's chances at a tourney spot, even though we know to keep them out of the top 30 teams is a joke.

Ty to Tulane

Really good school for an intelligent young man. Congrats to Ty.

Ducks ... errrr ... Dog beat Dogs

Once conference play begins, any undermanned PAC12 team is apt to drop games. Oregon is undermanned and was on the road in Seattle, where they like Ducks as much as we like Huskies. Each is fine .. in its place .. and the hardwood is not one of those. Oregon got into early foul trouble but survived the first half trailing by only 6 points. It didn't take long to turn that around when the second stanza got underway. Loosened defense and some poor shooting were partly to blame for the deficit. Both were fixed a half time. Still, this was a game Oregon should have lost.

I'm sending a personal letter of thanks to Kieon Brooks Jr. who probably didn't sleep well last night. The 80% free throw shooter hit 5 of his 12 attempts, more than providing the two point winning margin the Ducks walked away with. UDuh did some nice three point shooting, better than the Ducks did (50% to 33%), though when the visitors hit on their 33 percent proficiency ( ... uh .. yeah) it was part of the every hit counts offense. Once in a while the wrong team wins and this was justifiably, to Dog fans, one of those times. I was quite happy with the result. By the way, the pups missed as many free throw attempts as Oregon even got and the only player to foul out was one of Wasington's big men.

The next time the two meet it will be in Eugene with Oregon probably being healthy in the post again. I'm fairly sure the underDOG in that one won't win it. Speaking of injuries, Mookie Cook, a real Oregon Duck from Portland, got onto the court for the first time after his recovery. He didn't get more than a first taste of six minutes but he got four points, a defensive rebound, and a steal. He was another freshman who looked like he belonged on the court.

As for Saturday's game, I watched part of the party in Pullman after the Oregon game. I'd best describe the thing as the aimless vs the hopeless and you can ascribe either to either team. That may not hold up when the Ducks come to town but it looked like both are significantly slower and less organized than what we have seen from Oregon, so far, with the exception of the Syracuse game. Still the Ducks will be undersized and undermanned for yet another game. That they have a 3-0 conference and 11-3 overall record is a pleasant surprise and the Duck are ahead of where I expected them to be before they got Dante and/or Biddle back. Kudos to the team coming together to play Altman ball.
