Good stuff from Dale:

Ranking the best running backs in college football for 2025

4. Makhi Hughes, Oregon

Points: 51

2024 stats (with Tulane): 265 carries, 1,401 yards, 15 TDs; 19 receptions, 176 yards, 2 TDs

The Tulane transfer ran for 1,401 yards last fall, ninth most nationally and more than any other returning running back. Hughes established himself as an exceptionally productive talent in two seasons with the Green Wave, and he lands at Oregon with two years of eligibility as an ideal replacement for 1,267-yard rusher Jordan James.

Hughes broke out for 1,378 yards on 258 carries as a freshman in 2023 before effectively replicating that rushing season. A key uptick in 2024: Hughes' rushing touchdown count climbed from seven to 15. His 949 yards after first contact in 2024, per TruMedia, also leads all returning rushers in 2025. As the Ducks break in new quarterback Dante Moore, Hughes' production and dependability could be especially important. -- Lederman

TRAVEL QUESTIONS

So.

Here we are near the end of the first year in the B1G.

When realignment hit, many were worried about the amount of travel that student athletes, especially those from West Coast schools, would be subjected to.

It was speculated that the travel would be especially hard for student athletes who competed in the smaller sports. (Because they study more or have worse lodging and transportation? IDK.)

Anyway, now that pretty much everybody has made it through a season, what happened? Other than being expensive for the school, how did the kids handle it?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Diana Cherotich

This incoming freshman will be competing for Oregon this outdoor season.
One of the nuances of recruiting internationally is that sometimes it isn’t a case of next year… but sometimes it is more like football. Having her this spring will be a big addition… especially with the eligibility expiration of stars Jaida Ross and Jayden Mays.

New at Autzen Zoo

Liam Donnan breaks down the cornerbacks and we have links to news around Oregon sports. Happy Hump Day. Softball's up to No. 5 in the country, taking on the Beavs at 6 p.m. PDT.

I hope nobody has a case of the Mondays. Bittle's getting an evaluation but could return. Softball soars to 31-3 as ace Lyndsey Grein reaches 18-1. She's struck out 125 in 93 innings. Who do you like to start at receiver? Former DSA scribe Jacob Hamre has analysis.

Women heading home from NJ with a couple more wins

Well ... they weren't just wins that took them to 31-3. They tied the team record for hits at 19 in the first game which they edged out Rutgers 20-1. Next game up they broke the record with 20 in their 21-2.

Besides hitting reasonably well they lead the conference in most pitching categories.

Any time left fielder Kai Luschar gets on first with the 2nd base empty, it's not likely to remain so long, usually just one or two pitches to the next hitter. With 38 thefts she averages more than one per game. Even Ricky Henderson didn't pull that off.

If you have BIG0 plus, their games are fun to watch, as are the baseball games.

Basketball Transfer Quaaack

Devon Pryor, a 6-foot-6 guard who spent the past two seasons at Texas, has committed to Oregon with two years of eligibility remaining.
Pryor appeared in 30 games over his time with the Longhorns, including seven as a freshman and 23 this past season, making two starts. The Houston native battled injuries but showed flashes of potential, averaging 3.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.1 blocks per game in 2024.

He delivered efficient shooting numbers inside the arc and at the free-throw line, hitting 51.8% from the field and 81.3% from the stripe this past season. His perimeter shooting remains an area of growth, converting just 18.8% from 3-point range after shooting 20.0% as a freshman on similar volume.

Pryor joins the Ducks with two seasons of eligibility remaining as he looks to take the next step in his career under head coach Dana Altman.
