Oregon OL recruit Alex Forsyth excited about Taggart, program's direction

Sure glad Puddles isn't the new coach, Forsyth might be the only one signing........http://www.csnnw.com/oregon-ducks/o...syth-excited-about-taggart-programs-direction

Other UO commits, Forsyth has spoken with, have remained on board and are pumped up to play for Taggart. So is Forsyth, who believes the Ducks will rise again very soon.

“I see that there’s going to be a turnaround," Forsyth said, "which is reassuring."

I Relate to Capt Obvious

Watching USF offense from this year I see a lot of Oregon in what they did/do. Biggest difference is the the use of QB running. (here comes the obvious part). I suspect WT doesn't fall into the "QB that runs" category. I have a suspicion he likes a running QB that can throw. Granted he may of just been using what he had, and my thoughts are invalid, but I have a feeling.

Malik Henry

Per Warchant and ESPN freshman QB Malik Henry is transferring from FSU. He is from Long Beach Poly. Is he someone who WT may be interested in? It sounds like he still has his redshirt so would have 3 to play after sitting a year, but not sure. He was suspended for a month during fall practice and was an early entry, playing well in the spring game last year.

Interesting Coaching Rumors - Some Oregon Related Stuff

But somewhat related.

I thought that the parallels between Charlie Strong and Tom Herman (both going 22-3 over two seasons in the same conference) might give the Texas AD some nerves and that they might go with someone like Les Miles (I also think he would do well at Texas).

However, rumor today that Miles and Purdue are in talks - Miles wants Purdue to do more for making football matter at Purdue.

What does this say about Fleck? West. Michigan is working on getting him a salary bump to 1.5-2 mil, but might he be opting for patience at a better opportunity? Like, say, Notre Dame which might also open up soon?

Wyoming working on extension for Craig Bohl

And, finally, I still think Chad Morris and Baylor are a match made in heaven.

There is also renewed belief that Jimbo Fisher is a target for both LSU and Texas. There are a lot of moving parts in the coaching world - and soon to be more as there is a decent chance that Mora gets fired along with some other unexpected stuff.

Have not contacted anyone re: the Duck situation this week, so, not sure if any of this will even matter. I just find this time of year fascinating!

Sunday Morning Tidbits

- So, with the news that Charlie Strong is now the head coach at USF there are some relevant tidbits

- USF said in their press release that TJ Weist will guide the team through their bowl game, but we are still told he will come with Taggart

- Strong is rumored to want to bring most of his staff from Texas with him, including Sterlin Gilbert (OC/QB).

- Shaun King indicated to one USF insider yesterday that he would like to stay in Tampa, but given Gilbert coming with Strong, that seems not plausible. He could go back to 7-on coaching, or he could follow Taggart as we were told originally would happen

- An interesting side note about Sterlin Gilbert; he was the OC/QB coach at Temple (TX) HS in 2011

- Strong as DC was a long shot at best, USF targeted him as soon as Taggart left and the only real stumbling block were the terms. Tampa sources indicate that he never had contact with Oregon between Thursday and Saturday. Not saying he wasn't a target, necessarily, just that he had never even discussed the position with Oregon based on what I have heard

- Don't take the 'Pruitt/Orlando/Aranda ain't coming' comment to mean that I don't believe Oregon should make those calls; they absolutely should. My point is more along the lines that I think if we set ourselves up by saying "If Taggart doesn't get XYZ coach, then he failed' is not the best approach. It's like the 'If it isn't Chip Kelly or Tom Herman, then Mullens failed' rhetoric. Failure will not be known for 2-3 years on the DC front.

- What Taggart must do is not say 'it's Orlando or bust' he needs to find the best possible coordinator who will take the job. Whether that is Todd Orlando or Someone we have not yet thought of, the concept is that he needs to find someone that will make the Oregon 'D' a top 3 in the conference type defense.

Anyone Else Going to UNLV, UCLA and AZ?

The Ducks are getting better, every game. Way overrated pre- season...... doesn't stop me from thinking they could be a FF team.

Dorsey on fire. Brooks slowly in the grove, Ennis needs to stop taking contested 3's, but is improving and could start for the cfb team! PP will eventually light it up, mark those words. Maybe as a soph, but the dude has moxy and is getting comfortable, if not shooting well....yet.Benson as steady as ever.

Biggest disappointment so far, imho, is B-W. However, the raw talent is there,or so it seems, but he just seems to lack confidence and aggression. Hope he finds it, soon.We need rebounds and put backs from him.

Gonna try for UcLA and AZ too.Good tickets, anyone--if anyone has got a line on prime tickets for AZ or UCLA, pls respond soon? Need 2 to each, will probably hit Craig's list tomorrow.

Anyone want to meet up for a beer before/after UNLV, let me know. Maybe same for UcLA and AZ.

Normal attrition this year?

RG.com has a article for tomorrow up that talks about the disciplinary situations and possible transfers. I checked GoDucks roster last night and Prevot, Heard, Wallace, and Franklin are all still listed, with their class standing for next year. I thought Wallace and Franklin were off the team (although I've only read that here). Does WT give Prevot and Heard a chance if legal issues are cleared up, or is he going to be proactive as part culture change?

The possible transfers listed were Wilson, Jonsen, and the Griffin brothers. It said Taj hurt his knee near the end of the season and postulated he could use his redshirt year closer to home if he didn't think he was going to get more playing time (didn't he hurt a knee his senior year of high school as well?). His brother could graduate this spring and play immediately if he transferred. He hasn't seen the field very often. We must have some depth at QB! When he says everyone competes everyday I would think that would be encouraging to Wilson and Jonsen.

Do you guys think more players will stay than usual because of a new set of coaches giving them a fresh chance to improve their spot on the depth chart? How many are not sure what they may be getting themselves in for with WT. He has sounded like a serious man (no excuses, no blame, my way or gone). We need his culture, but how many players may have been spoiled by a possible recent slackening of discipline.

Congratulations Willie!

This was my second choice behind Chip....and as some of you know I had a tough time choosing between the two. I realize that he wasn't the top choice among the people who decided.

Chip could have hit the ground running faster. He also could have improved the team with less of a rebuilding period. Obviously Rhule was a great candidate, but we couldn't land him.

Give the Brother a chance! It may take a couple of years to really see what he will do, be patient. Duck fans are spoiled and impatient. Get used to it. We won't be dominant next season. However, we may still get there. It's the tortoise, not the hare who wins the race.

I'm super excited about Willie. I'm not just a fan. I'm an alumnus. I think that this is not only a great football hire, but it is a good hire for the University. Now, I'll find out if that is the case.

Rivals' Farrell, Respectfully Disagrees

What's this? Raining on our parade, is he, lol. "Risky" Maybe so, but I don't think some outside the fan base "gets" that we see this as a swing for the fences. Risky, maybe, but not without the upside in the very thing we have been lacking--serious recruiting potential. And besides, WT is inheriting a damn good and young group at UO, so it's not like he's completely starting from scratch..
