The Outdoor track and field season is just getting started, but Oregon athletes are already showing up big. Last night at Mt. Sac, Freshman, Katie Rainsberger ran a 4.13.25 1500 meters. This is the top NCAA time in the nation so far this season. Meanwhile, cross town at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Sam Prakel ran his 1500 meter race in 3:40.87 (roughly a 3:58 mile). Meanwhile, perhaps even more impressive was Freshman, Austin Tamagno's 3:41.33 in the same race (a nearly 3 second improvement on his lifetime best). Not to be outdone, on the women's side, Australian Sophomore, Jessica Hull set a new PR in 4:17.76.
Going back to Mt. Sac, the sprinters did their part as well. Kyree King won the collegiate open in both the 100 meters (10.27) and 200 meters (20.78). Another freshman, Makenzie Dunmore continued to show why Oregon recruited her, as she won her 200 meter race, while setting a PR of 23.24. This Golden Age of Oregon track just seems to be getting shinier and shinier.
