Small Stephan Blaylock update

Was just told from someone close that his mom really loved oregon and is 100% on board should he choose Oregon.

For Stephan the biggest issue about leaving was his mom, with her on board, the odds are better.

He and a few of his team mates will get to Eugene around 2 Friday and will meet up with Coach Heyward and go an an academic tour before hanging out with Heyward, Salave'a and a couple of other coaches for a while

CurrentTrack Recruiting Class Ranks

Milesplit recently ranked the current top 13 recruiting class. This is how they stand right now, but the recruiting is not over.

13 Duke
12 Wisconsin
11 USC
10 Cal
9 Kentucky
8 Baylor
7 Alabama
6 Texas
5 Washington
4 BYU
3 Florida State
2 Oregon
1 Stanford

1. Stanford University
There's no debating it: The Cardinals have signed 21 recruits and their incoming class is loaded. Stanford has amassed some of the best talent from around the country, without question. That includes La Salle (RI) Academy's DJ Principe, Chantilly (Va.) High's Brandon McGorty, Cardinal Gibbons (NC) High's Connor Lane, San Luis Obispo (Ca.) High's Callum Bolger and Davis (Ca.) High's Michael Vernau. On the girls side, they gained the signature of Foot Locker Nationals runner-up Nevada Mareno and mid-distance star Julia Heymach of Houston Lamar (Tx.), among others.

2. University of Oregon
The Ducks are stacked in the distance events, gaining talents such as Cooper Teare of St. Joseph Notre Dame (Ca.), Reed Brown of Southlake Carroll (Tx.) High and on the girls side, Lake Braddock (Va.) High's Kate Murphy. Those three signings alone would help boost any program. But then the Ducks added more. In the sprints, Serra Junipero (Ca.) High's Jasmin Reed signed in April, as well as Lauren Rain Williams -- the California sprinter initially signed with USC in November but was granted an early release and instead opted for Oregon.

2019 4-star RB Austin Jones talks Ducks offer: "I love Oregon"

I recently had a chance to catch up with 4-star Oakland, Calif. 4-star RB Austin Jones to talk about his offer from Oregon.

Here's a portion of what he had to say:

In His Words: “That was real crazy when I got the offer from Oregon. I grew up watching them on TV and stuff and getting an offer from them, that was wild. I loved DeAnthony Thomas, Lamichael James, Marcus Mariota, all of them. I loved them. I can’t wait to get up there for a visit this summer.”

On his fit: “They told me they love my speed, my vision. They love everything about me and said I’m the type of running back they need up there. I said I’m all on board because I love Oregon.”

My saturday scrimmage thoughts

I'll write this before I read Scott's or anyone else

I walked down on the field mingled with the media. Managed to stay down there for about 45 minutes before someone asked me if I had a pass. Who me....? Damm...forgot it!! Out of here buddy.

Anyway, in that time I watched some things up close. Overall the overall energy is night and day. Coach Salavea is awesome. Constantly flinging his arms around and going crazy when his D line makes a play. I listened to Taggart and Arroya interacting with players and both are loose and funny, yet serious about coaching them up.

some things I noticed

1) I stood next to Jordan Scott and he is indeed about my height 6'0 , maybe 6'1 one. Looks like a fat kid , but can really move. Watching him in the scrimmage, he got a push every time I watched him. He is low to the ground and hard to f dig out of there. Needs to keep working on that body and also learn how to use his hands better to get off blocks, but he can plug it up big time , right now

2) Royce Freeman looked healthy and quicker than I have ever seen him. I have always said he needs to run"meaner". One run he slowed down before contact and Breeze made a great open field tackle. Another time thought he accelerated into the contact and ran over Springs. Do that every time Royce!!
3) Thomas Graham- Best cover corner on the team and the best in years. Very confident player. I could see him being a 1st round pick someday. Breeze looks really good too. Lots more depth with the 2nd unit being guys whom have all started before. Amadi and Robinson. Secondary will be a big upgrade
4) Jacob Breeland- I did not notice his blocking but as a receiver he is outstanding. I kept forgetting numbers and every time he caught a ball I though it was a new receiver because of his speed

5) Malik lovette- Most surprising receiver. Got a great deep ball from Herbert for a TD. Then Burmeister threw a ball in the end zone over the wrong shoulder and Lovette adjusted with 180 and made an excellent catch. He is also fast and very thick

6) Battle for back up QB- I saw Travis Jonsen at the Nike camp in high school and they have completely changed his throwing motion. He used to throw it like a baseball and now throws it like a QG. In a drill with just the QB's and coaches when I was on the field they were practicing rollouts and throwing different short to medium throws. I think it was coach arroyo who was on them to hit tight windows. Jonsen threw a high ball and the coach reminded him that Charles Nelson would have a tough time with that ball. Jonsen was the least accurate and Burmiester the weakest arm. Both played better in the scrimmage though. Burmiester has the most wiggle. He needs it because like Jordan Scott he looks to be about my height. 6'1 at the most I would say. Herbert is the starter , but i think the battle for back up will go well into the fall and I like both of them

Lots of other little things, but in general, the whole vibe is better. The last coaching staff did a great job for years, but its like a long married couple and things were a little stale. These guys are younger and excited to be at Oregon and it rubs off on the players
