Does absence make the heart grow fonder? I guess you will all have to be the judge. Some may have noticed that I have been considerably less active over the last couple of weeks,

About a month ago, my dad, who lives in Eugene and some of you have met at tailgates came to Portland and said he needed to meet up 'important.' His health has been deteriorating for some time and the doctors had told him he was probably at the 12-18 months range as a prognosis.

Well, then about 10 days ago, he called and said that the doctor had changed his prognosis to significantly more bleak - weeks not months - consequently, my family and I have been working to find ways for everyone to visit. As the only one who lives close, I have been spending my free time driving to Eugene and back every weekend.

My younger brother and his family flew into town last weekend and we had a big family reunion dinner at Mazzi's - he even asked for our mother, from whom he has been divorced for 45 years, to join us.

Needless to say, been quite busy trying to line up some home health care for him (he is too stubbornly independent to leave his apartment) and get down to help him run errands, etc. Mostly, he has everything worked out and he is doing his part, getting rid of unnecessary paperwork, etc.

Anyway, this is all to say, I am around, lurking. I am still doing the legwork and getting as much information as I can, but I have not been as active here.

What's up with this JC TE. There were reports that he committed to UO. Since then there has been nothing but silence on this players commit and recruiting status. Need area for Ducks, so it makes sense to pursue him.

Although this is not football related, i believe it is still relevant to us all. Saturday as we all heard, two men were killed on the MAX trying to intervene for two teenage girls on the train, one Black, one Muslim. They died simply trying to do a honorable thing, the right thing. This morning I would like to send out prayers to these men's families, and friends. If you have ever lossed someone you loved to violence, it is a troubling thing to recover from. For those here that believe in prayer, please send a prayer out to these men's love ones. Thank you

However, Justin Hopkins on Scoopduck is all over this and says Oregon has a high chance of signing him... we'll see.

Hey Guys: I had a chat with Verone McKinley last weekend at an event in Dallas, where he told me that Oregon is sneaking up in his recruitment. He didn't pick up his offer from the Ducks until after he released a Top 9 earlier this spring, but now he hinted at having cause to reconsider that decision.
