Amazing Coincidence at US Trials

Chile and I did not in anyway collaborate
on our Olympic Trials seat selections. Out of all of the seats and fans who should have the seat next to mine? You guessed it, Chile!

He sends his regards to DSA. He and I both have all sessions tickets, so I will be seeing a lot of him. I drove up from Santa Cruz, but Chile had a longer trip. He drove up from New Mexico!

Elite 11 News: Oregon’s Starting QB

Sounds like Dillon made quite an impression as an Elite 11 counselor. From Bruce Feldman’s article in The Athletic:

A different quarterback take: Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel

Gabriel was at the event as one of the college counselors, and he made a big impression. On the first night, Gabriel and Sagapolutele, a fellow Hawaiian, made it to the end of their “rail shot” competition among all the quarterbacks and counselors.

“Dillon would’ve nailed that throw 27 times in a row, but when he got to the end with Jaron, he just kinda threw it up in the air so Jaron could win. He was awesome with the kids. Total rock star,” Stumpf said. “I think he exceeded expectations from what everybody would’ve thought of him from a throwing standpoint. He was a dude and a leader and super charismatic. All the high school kids were just raving about him.”

Also, for those concerned that Akili Smith Jr hasn’t been getting more props for his performance out there (I’ve read some good stuff), Feldman has this to say about the quality of this years QBs overall:
This year’s crop of quarterbacks at the Elite 11 had the staff raving; several coaches told The Athletic that the Class of 2025 group was one of the most impressive ever seen at the camp. That’s saying something, given the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, Bryce Underwood, wasn’t in attendance.

“This is as talented a group as I’ve seen, from 1-20,” said coach Justin Hoover, who has worked with the Elite 11 for the past 12 years. Hoover noted that, typically, the lower-ranked quarterbacks at the camp flounder as they try to keep up with the competition: “Sometimes, it gets bad-bad.” But there “wasn’t much of a gap” this year, as all of the quarterbacks showed they belonged.

5 STAR OUCH FOR USC

Justus Terry becomes 2nd 5-star to decommit from USC in 24 hours

USC's 2025 recruiting class suffered a second massive blow in the span of 24 hours Wednesday morning with the decommitment of five-star defensive tackle Justus Terry.
"My recruitment is open!! #Decommitted," Terry wrote on X.
Terry's decision to reopen his recruitment comes just one day after five-star defensive end commit Isaiah Gibson pulled his verbal pledge from the Trojans, yanking two of the top three prospects from Lincoln Riley's upcoming class that previously ranked third in ESPN's team rankings. Top overall prospect Julian Lewis remains committed to USC following a visit to Auburn this past weekend.

Will Stein Rocks Out

Interesting guy. He probably wont be around much longer, but I doubt UO will let go of him w/o a fight. Hard to see him taking lateral OC job, and it might take balls for a big program to hire his as HC, so maybe we will have him for a few more years after all. I sure hope so, and if Lanning were to get snatched away by, say KC, he'd probably be a good guy to consider as HC. Good interview.

Pritchard and co. one step closer to a ring?

He's pulling his weight and almost always has the most PT of any non-starter. I might even start watching some of these. Pretty nice, balanced stat line tonight.
