Out of South Africa, Mine De Klerk, has verbally committed to Oregon. She is a shot put and discus thrower. She would actually have placed fifth in the 2019 NCAA Championships. Credit Chile for this info.

There is definitely a new emphasis on getting women throws talent. It makes me even more optimistic about the future. Stars are coming in from a broad spectrum of events.

MBB: Saturday's Cal game changed to 1 pm.

EUGENE, Ore. – The start time for Oregon’s game at California on Saturday has been changed to 1 p.m. and will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.

The contest was initially scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip on FS1.

The time for the Ducks’ final game of the season was also announced by the Pac-12 on Wednesday. Oregon will play Oregon State March 7 in Corvallis in a game that will start at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast by FS1.

Oregon is next at Stanford Wednesday at 6 p.m. (ESPNU).

MBB adds Arizona and UCLA games

Home games against Arizona and UCLA have been added to Oregon’s schedule while the regular-season finale at Oregon State has been moved back a day. The Pac-12 announced the final round of schedule adjustments for games postponed due to COVID-19-related issues on Monday.

The Ducks will host Arizona on Monday, March 1, and UCLA on Wednesday, March 3. As a result, the Oregon-OSU game that was scheduled for Saturday, March 6, in Corvallis has been moved to Sunday, March 7.

Times of all three games have yet to be determined. The Arizona and UCLA games will be on the ESPN family of networks, while the broadcast coverage for the OSU game will be announced at a later date.

The Arizona game was originally scheduled for Jan. 15 at Matthew Knight Arena.

This is the fourth time Oregon and UCLA will attempt to play a game that was initially slated to be contested on Dec. 23 in Eugene. Two other make-up dates for that game were also postponed, Jan. 19 in Eugene and Feb. 1 in Los Angeles.

The Ducks will now play four times in seven days with games at Stanford on Thursday and California on Saturday ahead of the two rescheduled games.

Oregon plays at No. 19 USC Monday at 6 p.m. (FS1)

We need to really hope this doesn't take root

If this passes and spreads to other PAC12 states, perhaps even if it doesn't spread, the PAC12 is history.

If it went nation-wide athletic programs would drop like flies. To be "Fair" would result in thousands of kids losing the ability to go to college. Most of them aren't going to play sports professionally anyway and would lose career opportunities.

California, with an economy already on the skids would, I am assuming, have to dig up the cash to pay the bills for the state schools, soon to be bankrupt in this scenario, whose budgets couldn't pony up the cash.

Better or worse: offensive line

Kingsley Suamataia has a bright future as a left tackle, but can he develop fast enough to crack the starting lineup as a freshman? Penei Sewell and Tyrell Crosby did, but it's rare.
