MLB: Oregon Alum Making History

And...surprise...it's a Lady Duck!

"Sara Goodrum’s field of dreams has become a reality.

The former Oregon softball player was promoted Thursday to the position of minor league hitting coordinator of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 27-year-old Goodrum is the first woman to have that role in any Major League Baseball organization."

Good for you Sara!!!

Duck Men Win Razorback

I’m impressed! There is so much to report from this meet that time and energy prevents it. This is a great track program. The men are looking at a clear chance for an NCAA team Championship. The women also look good in many events.

The 60m for men and women is impressive. Micah Williams broke the school record with a 6.56 in just his first college track meet. On the women’s side, Jamaican Kemba Nelson, beat highly acclaimed USC senior Twanisha Terry in a smokin time of 7.19

Go to the other extreme of the running events and the Oregon men are just as formidable. Cooper Teare won the 3000 in a time of 7:46.10 with teammate Cole Hocker right behind him with a 7:46.44.

In so many events and in so many aspects, Oregon outperformed my expectations. The men won the team score, and the women finished third. This was a team meet with an elite invitation list.

Sampson Niu

So, this came up a lot this past season. Now we can make public why Niu missed the season. His mother was battling stomach cancer and recently passed away. He shared this publicly today as the family created a memorial fund.

We wish Sampson and his family peace, comfort and love as they face this most difficult loss.
