I don’t know much about some of these nominees, but I am delighted to see that Columbia founder/ CEO, Tim Boyle is one of the nominees. Tim has been a great alumnus. He has generously given of his time and treasure. The kind of judgement that turned a start up into a famous sportswear company success story will help guide and guard the university.
Another major OL target the Ducks involved with, and are in his top five along with, Alabama, Ohio State, Florida and Georgia. Nice company. He released his list earlier this week.
I tried checking in with him this morning about possible travel plans out here. We'll see if he gets back.
Today we interviewed Brandon Dorlus, Mase Funa, Isaac Slade-Matautia and Coach Cristobal. Great stuff again.
Dorlus feels he has become more physical against the run for this season
Says Keyon Ware-Hudson has improved greatly "Keyon is going to be a big problem"
Mase Funa says he loves the new defense. Takes great advantage of the personnel
Says this year’s defense has looked different. “Everything is so fluid, just like water.”
ISM says the defense under DeRuyter is "way easier to understand" than the Avalos defense
Everybody says they have been able to do tons of install because of it.
I asked coach if anybody has stood out compared to last year. He didn't want to answer because he was afraid of leaving guys out but eventually mentioned Bradyn Swinson, Jake Shipley and Adrian Jackson
Says chances of Justin Flowe having a breakout year are "extremely high"
Anthony Brown still running the ones, other QB's are rotating through with the two's
Scrimmage this Saturday
I'll get you the interviews when they are processed
Oregon signed CB Dior Mathis out of Detroit's Cass Technical School in the 2010 class. They are back recruiting at Cass Tech in 2022, and four-star OL/DL Deone Walker cites the Ducks as a standout among his recent offers. His comments in the article below:
I saw that Victor Bailey was playing in the tournament with Tennessee and Miles Norris is playing for UC Santa Barbara. We've seen Duck football transfers turn up in bowl games from time to time, but have we ever seen Ducks hoops transfers turn up in March Madness? Maybe there are some examples, but I can't think of any. Nice to see those guys go on to have some success.
Chris Crutchfield, who served as head coach at East Central (Ark.) this season after stints as an assistant at Arkansas in 2019-20 and Oklahoma from 2011-19, is joining Altman’s staff at Oregon as associate head coach.
One prospect of interest at least in this edition of Farrell's Transfer Tracker piece. I am not sure what Oregon's chances are with To'oto'o because he and his camp have been silent.
