Pac 12 Invitational Review Track Video

This video reveals the unique diversity of
of Oregon’s track team. They represent humanity that ranges from small slender women long distance runners to hulking men throwers. These athletes come from a variety of countries in multiple continents. Although they are as diverse as a college sports team can be, they are a close and unified team. The fun coed social aspect of this group is reflected throughout this video both at competition and during play. All of these Ducks have one thing in common and that is that they are exceptionally gifted athletes. I hope that you enjoy this inside look at our track and field program.

Duck baseball wins again, win streak up to 6

After the rough 0-3 start to the year, ducks now have won six straight after taking game one vs. UCSB. The positive takeaway from this one was the solid pitching as UCSB only scored on two solo homers and the ducks outhit them 10-3. Doubleheader tomorrow starting at 2:05 local time.

DUCKS AT NFL COMBINE

Yes...I am a combine junkie. There. I said it.

Yesterday was Wide Receiver Day.

A record tying 8 players ran the 40 in under 4.4...including Ohio State's two starting receivers...I mean two wideouts starting on the same team and under 4.4?!

Our Hometown Heroes--JJ III and Devon Williams--did not fare as well.

JJ III:

40: 4.6 #27 of 32
Vertical: 32" #29 of 32
Broad Jump: 10'1" 5-way tie for 25th of 32
3 Cone Drill: 7.21 #8 of 13...so far
Short Shuttle: 4.54 #12 of 13

DW:

40: 4.65 #31 of 32. To be fair DW did not run twice. Many wonder if he tweaked a hammy or something.
Vertical: 33" 5-way tie for 24th of 32.
Broad Jump: 11' 1" #3 of 32.
3 Cone Drill: NA

Duck Women’s 4x4 Going to the Dance

We already knew that the DMR was going, but now the 4x4 is in by the skin of their teeth. I really like this relay team. They are VERY young. Take a look at the four 4X4 runners in the photo below. All four are freshmen. Three are 400 specialist, but the other one ( Grebo) currently the fastest. Grebo is outstanding at the 400 hurdles. Will they score points at Nationals?… Probably not, but if this group stays together at Oregon, they will go one to accomplish great things. The 4x4 team is the photo on the top.

Ex Duck Alaysha Johnson Makes US World Indoor Team

I got a great email from Alaysha’s mom a couple of days back, naturally she is thrilled. I’ve been trying to post some tweets but they don’t paste onto this forum.

Anyway, “Lay Lay” will be representing the USA in the 60mh at the world indoors. She finished second at the US Indoor Championships. Alaysha is Raevyn Rogers’s best friend. Their friendship goes back to growing up in Houston. They were both huge recruits coming out of high school, but Alaysha was the top women’s track athlete in the state of Texas. Oregon pulled a bonanza by signing both in the same recruiting class. It has been a bumpy road to get there, but she is now among the world’s best…… and she could make Team USA in the Outdoor 100mh.

NCAA Changes marijuana rules

With these standards, Darren Carrington would have been eligible against Ohio State in 2015... sigh

There will certainly be varying opinions on whether this should be the new standard, but let's keep it respectful and limited to the scope of the NCAA rule.
