Oregon and Missouri are the only two schools left on the list for Missouri offensive lineman Logan Reichert. The top-100 prospect announced his final two and decision date this afternoon. He will make his college choice Sept. 8 with a time still to be determined. At this point the in-state Tigers have jumped out front as the favorite, but Reichert did take an official visit to Oregon in June.

As new track head coach Jerry Schumacher continues to assemble a star studded coaching staff, rumor has it that the long time S&C coach will not be one of the changes.

I will call this a sort of 'Beyond Flock Talk' thought process. Because of the nature of how I write here, I try to keep the personal stuff out of articles as much as possible. Earlier this year I created my own website. At the time, I was not sure what it would be about (it is absolutely free, so I don't feel it competes at all with the site).

David Peevy planned on making a decision soon, but it's going to take a little longer to reach a conclusion. Washington has now entered the picture in a bigger way squeezing into his top group alongside the Ducks and USC. Still, Oregon continues to have a strong relationship with him. He wore Oregon gloves and wristbands in his game Friday night, and the Ducks have made him feel very comfortable with the team and staff. Having former teammates Jahlil Florence and Jalil Tucker on the team has helped, but he truly just has a great appreciation for the past success for both Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi.

“It’s life-changing because they’ve coached in the SEC and they’re looking at me. So, it’s like, man, I’m shocked because I watched that game (national championship) and got to see Dan Lanning coach. It’s amazing how he coaches.”

Peevy is planning on making a return visit to Eugene in late September/early October for the weekend of the game against Stanford. He will visit Washington on Sept. 17. He already visited the Ducks back in June when he also took an official visit to USC.

He is unsure of when a commitment could happen at this point, but I'd look at early in the fall from the sounds of it now. He says he doesn't have any planned visits to USC right now, so it will be interesting to see if Oregon can get the process wrapped up after that trip next month.

I just rewatched the game. Believe it or not, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was at the time the game was live. I guess that once you know the outcome, the shock of the mismatch is cushioned.

This team is pretty good…. or so it seems to me. I know that some of you will not agree, but I still kind of like Bo Nix. He has great athleticism. He’s a fighter, and he can zip the ball. He has room for improvement, but he has ability.

This team has good young talent. Lanning is also a young talent. Look for both to grow as the season progresses. I believe that Oregon played Georgia better than the score would indicate. Georgia was the better team, but by the end of the season that gap could narrow.

How many PAC 12 teams would have done better against Georgia than Oregon did?. I would suggest zero.

Everything rides on how Oregon reacts to this beating. If this deflates the team’s confidence and resolve then we have a problem. If, on the other hand, this game is a motivator to get better and never be in this situation again, then this team should end up with a good record. It all starts at the top.

Dan Lanning is reputedly unrelenting in his resolve to improve. I’ll bet that they do improve and by season’s end they’ll be a very good team. I’m still looking forward to a good season.

Kirby Smart is a good coach, but I suggest that he start an exercise program, go on a diet, get some platform shoes and work on his personal decorum. That fat little punk does not impress me one bit.

Some bad losses, but I can’t think of a more humiliating non-Helfrich game.

We’ve never had a team this talented, and never been destroyed so badly since the pre-Brooks bodybag days.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Oregon team so poorly prepared, or create so many opportunities by missing tackles.

Good afternoon all, I decided to do a deep dive on the three known NIL 'collectives' that are out there (Division Street, Eugene NIL Club, Rucks Rising) with some depth and hopefully better clarity. The piece is long, but a part of my personal site since this kind of delves way off topic of recruiting and football coverage:

I just read it. It might pain me, but I agree with him.

I believe that Oregon has good talent. Just having great talent doesn’t win football games. Great talent with poor fundamentals, bad schemes, inadequate game preparation, is really a waste of talent.

I especially like Dan, but his team did not look well coached. He, of corse, knows that, and will use this as a learning experience. What is surprising is that the basic fundamentals, especially blocking and tackling were so poorly executed. He obviously was successful in drilling fundamentals into his Georgia players. It is time to do the same for Oregon.

This was as we had heard recently. Staff really loves his game

2023 4-star edge rusher Blake Purchase has set his decision date and will announce his long-awaited commitment next Tuesday (Sept. 6) at 6:15 p.m. PDT. Along with announcing his decision date, the Colorado-based prospect announced his final group of five that includes Oregon, Notre Dame, Iowa State, Washington and Colorado. He took official visits to Oregon, Iowa State, Washington and Cal this summer. Notre Dame was a late offer, so he never was able to take an official visit to the school. That's positive for the Ducks as Notre Dame has been viewed as the top contender alongside Oregon since the Irish offered. Prior to that Iowa State, where his brother plays, had been the top competition for Purchase's commitment.

Oregon still remains in a strong position heading into his early September announcement.

Here's what he previously said about the Ducks a few weeks ago.

“The plan coach Lanning and coach Lupoi have for me and them both coaching edges at a high level, definitely that piece and then being a West Coast kid, always seeing Oregon football is a big thing for me. Every year, Oregon could be a top-five team in the country.”

Here are some early predictions and I hope CBS is correct that Oregon lands at #16 but I think that the Atlantic is more realistic.

Good column today from Scott with his 3-2-1 -- three observations, two questions and a prediction.

Scott, in his 5th quarter assessment and Ramsuer in his post on Reconsidering the Team both made excellent points about the good and not so good on Saturday. Certainly we’ve all done our own analysis and as I was thinking about things it reminded me of a book I recently read and how the following bears consideration:

Scott Galloway is a very successful business owner, author and Marketing Professor at NYU's Stern School of Business. In his new book, "The Algebra of Happiness", he explains this quote:

Our perception of how bad things are is typically much worse than they actually are in reality and our perception during good times is that they are much better than they really are.

Just some food for thought.

1. I am, for the most part very excited about the O.

THOUGHTS:

Gotta get the WRs involved...WRs need to create separation...need to throw over the middle more than once per game...wash...rinse...repeat.

2. I thought the line played well....other than false starts.

3. We have a plethora of good RBs that will do well in the PAC...if only they can catch.

4. TE gonna be a position of strength.

5. 7 needs to get more involved and needs to run better routes.

6. QB...ok...here we go.

Bo is apparently the best we have.

Thompson and Butterfield could not beat out AB or BO.

Facts are facts. Two coaching staffs and they both bring in transfer QBs...our recruits cannot beat them out. PERIOD.

Based only on this game, there is a reason Bo transferred.

5 years and he still stares down receivers. Doesn't look at secondary or tertiary receivers.

I get that a first or second year QB stares down receivers but a guy with his experience?

So...at the risk of being reactionary after only one game...against a potentially great team....our QB situation is mediocre at best.
