Track racks up wins in Tucson...

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Oregon track and field team earned a few more win during the second day of the Willie Williams Classic on Saturday as the Ducks got some early-season work under their belts as well as the first taste of the outdoor season.

Devon Allen finished off what was a great weekend for the dual-sport star. After winning the 200 on Friday, Allen handily won the 110 hurdles on Saturday, running 13.40 into a headwind. He then finished the day by winning the open 100 in a time of 10.36 which ranks 10th on the Oregon all-time list.

The women’s 4x100 team got off to a fast start on Saturday, winning in 43.31. The team of Jasmine Todd, Deajah Stevens, Hannah Cunliffe and Ariana Washington are now tied for second in school history, only four hundredths of a second off the school record. The men’s 4x100 team of Nate Moore, Travonn White, Ben Thiel and Marcus Chambers also finished first, with a time of 40.18.

A pair of middle-distance specialists picked up two more wins for the women’s team. Annie Leblanc added to her victory last night in the 1,500 by winning the 800 on Saturday in 2:04.38. Raevyn Rogers moved down to the 400 where she ran the fifth fastest time in school history (52.30). Rogers was joined by Ashante Horsley who took third in 54.22.

Sophomore Cole Walsh finished on top in the men’s pole vault, clearing 16-4.75 (5.00m).

At the IAAF World Championships, former Ducks Laura Roesler advanced through the women’s 800 semifinals. She will run in the final on Sunday, as will Matthew Centrowitz, who qualified through in the men’s 1,500.

The Ducks will take a break from competition next weekend but will host the second annual Fan Fest at Hayward Field, Saturday, March 26.

Crazy trade offer by Chip for Marcus...

If all this is true it is very interesting how badly Chip wanted Marcus.

Chip Kelly apparently could have done even more damage to the Eagles last offseason.

That is, unless you believe Marcus Mariota is on his way to becoming a true superstar in the NFL.

On the radio with Colin Cowherd earlier this week, Fox Sports NFL insider Peter Schrager gave the specifics of the trade offer Kelly made to the Titans to move up to the No. 2 pick in last year's draft to select Mariota.

Per Schrager, the Eagles offered the Titans their 2015 first- and second-round picks, their 2016 first-round pick, any quarterback on their roster and any defensive player on their roster in exchange for the No. 2 overall pick. (H/t to Philly Sports Network for finding the interview.) And the way Schrager stated it was not "any one defensive player," it was "anyone" on defense, which could have even meant multiple pieces.

That is utterly insane. Not that the Titans would have necessarily selected the players the Eagles took with those two picks last year, but that trade offer could have meant Sam Bradford, Fletcher Cox, Nelson Agholor, Eric Rowe and this year's first-rounder for Mariota.

DSA's ETA Spokane: 2 pm...

For these first two games (not to jinx things) in Spokane it will be Tom Corno covering for DSA with photos and video. I was not able to go this weekend because of a dislocated rib I am suffering through.

So Tom will be shooting the game and then the post-game stuff both today and Sunday. Expect some great images from him. I'll be joining everybody else watching on the big screen for the first two rounds then plan to be in Anaheim for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, assuming all goes well.

Let's go, Ducks.

Next Year's Hoops Team...Assuming

I'm prone to enjoy what you got while you got it, but if Boucher gets another year, and Brooks and Dorsey return (which they should, imo) look out. Pritchard and Cage should be early contributors. Whether they are as good as Cook and Benjamen off the get go...I doubt it. But if the other guys continue to improve, we could see another really good team. Problem is, UCLA and AZ had great recruiting classes. Anyway, it looks like the ducks are here to stay.
