Great season

Really, really proud of this team and feel really bad for Elgin Cook who played his heart out. Ducks ran into a NBA player with a super hot hand.

The one area were they where unbalanced as a team and had been over achieving all season finally caught up to them. There was no high percentage pure shooter on this roster or a guard who could get to the rim at will. OU shutdown the driving lanes for the most part and the Ducks couldn't stretch the court by hitting outside shots with any consistency.

If Joe Young were a senior on this years team it could have been a different ball game. Hopefully Ennis gets an extra year and/or Payton Prichard becomes that high percentage outside shooter.

I think Cook will really be missed next season. His athleticism, strength, driving ability, and ability to guard multiple positions is hard to replace.

Proud of this team. Picked to finish 4th in the conference and ended up wining the PAC12, PAC12 Tourney, received a #1 seed, and made it to the Elite 8. Looking forward to next season.

Go Ducks!

Walton Likes the Ducks (for what's that worth)

ESPN basketball analyst Bill Walton joined ESPN's First Take to talk about the Golden State Warriors, his son Luke Walton, and also the NCAA Tournament.

Walton was asked who he believes will win the national championship, and Walton went with a team he's most familiar with.

"I am going with Oregon. I love the way they play," Walton said.

Walton praised Dana Altman's coaching ability and said the Duck head coach has a good roster in place to win it all.

"He's got Elgin Cook and Dillon Brooks as his wing guy who can really fill it up," said Walton. "He's got Tyler Dorsey a young freshman from Los Angeles, he's a good player."

Walton said there's no reason to worry about Oregon's depth issues because all the great NBA teams used just seven guys to win NBA titles.

"Oregon is going to take them [Duke] because they have big guys, they have little guys...They play ball. They are fun. At the end of the day, offense wins championships...they can fill it up."

Walton ended his debate for Oregon with Oregon's two best players, Elgin Cook, and Dillon Brooks, being the main reason he likes Oregon to go all the way.

"What Oregon has at the end of the day, yes they have shot blockers, rebounders, defenders, shooters," Walton said. "What they really have, Dillon Brooks and Elgin Cook, they can initiate the offense, they can create offense. They are a really good

Today I took my own look back at Altman and what he has done at Oregon....

Thirty-eighth? Thirty ninth? Those were the numbers Dana Altman jokingly referred to as the pecking order that landed on him. While that is a bit of an exaggeration, there is no doubt that Altman was not the first choice of then Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny or just about any Oregon fan queried about the lengthy search.

While Altman may not have been the first choice – one thing seems certain in hindsight – he was the best choice.
