Recent Arizona decommit Jamari Phillips will be taking a visit to Oregon this week. The four-star prospect, who currently ranks 45th overall in the 2024 class, announced his decommitment from the Wildcats over the weekend after Arizona welcomed back Pac-12 Player of the Year Caleb Love, who withdrew his name from consideration from the NBA draft. Phillips has reportedly had a number of top programs reaching out to him since announcing his decommitment and receiving his release from Arizona.

The Ducks are the first one to get him out on a visit. I watched a lot of him over the last few years, and he can certainly fill it up as a scorer. He has improved his shot selection over time (it was a big issue at one point), and he if he can continue to need fewer shots to get his points then it will be a nice addition for any program late in the cycle.

USC, Louisville, Kansas and USC are some of the other notable schools involved. USC gained a ton of buzz quickly after his announcement while Louisville was the favorite to land him before he picked the Wildcats.

Super Regional: Game 2

Ducks jump out to lead early again 7-2 after third inning.

A&M closed it to 7-4 in top of 4th but the Ducks let a BIG opportunity go in the bottom of the 4th. Got to bases loaded and no outs before a strikeout and grounded into double play left them blanked in the inning.

Grinsell looked good in first 2 innings let pitch count get away from him abd was pulled in top of the 5th.

Still 7-4 Ducks in bottom of 5th

Is this a cause for concern?

Overall, Oregon teams did fairly well with their APR. But the football team continues to set a low bar, with only LSU having a worse APR in the Power 5. Is this an issue that Lanning and staff aren’t prioritizing, or is it attributable to other explainable factors? I’m in the dark here.

Oregon - UC Santa Barbara - Ducks win

Was out for most of the first 7 innings walking the dog, but Grinsell threw a masterpiece with 7 IP, 3 hits, 9 strikouts.

UCSB had an equally impressive performance from their starting pitcher. Oregon got on the board with a stolen base by Cansella and single by Carter Garate to drive him in.

Right now Oregon is in the Bottom of the 8th with a runner on second and one out
