Flock Talk: Fallen Satellites

Today I looked at 'ten recruiting moments, and also took another look at the satellite camp destruction and the two easy ways the NCAA could rectify the situation without totally reversing course.

Twenty-five years ago, working at a small pub in Charlottesville, Dave Matthews Band formed in the picturesque college town – one of his later hits was Satellite. My how prescient that was when thinking of the satellite camp phenomenon. Well, they aren't really the same, but way back when, I liked DMB. The really cool part, when my wife and I went to Charlottesville last month, not realizing the history, we had lunch at a quaint little pub in the town center area which is like a big, open, walking mall. The place was a little pub called Miller's with some outdoor seating. Well, that happened to be the place where Dave was working when DMB formed and began writing...

Anyway, random cool thought!

Oregon Relays 100m

Joe Morris is a professional....But what is encouraging is the improvement from the Pepsi by Taylor and White. This was into the wind. They are obviously working up their training slowly to avoid injury...let's keep an eye on these two.

Updated Rivals BB Recruiting Rankings

Still at 12. Not much of a bump with B-W, because other teams are still picking up players. Still a very solid class, and B-W being a more mature in coming Jr., he's probably underrated. Jackson flipping from UNLV is my top now. We probably will lose Brooks next year, so he would be a nice G/F to step in and knock down 3's.

Duke, Kent, AZ and MSU looking good. UNC no 11 despite very likely NCAA penalties on the near horizon.

Zach Okun...

Chatted with the RFr OL yesterday about the OL, DL and some getting to know stuff. Zach has been playing C and G this spring and should make the travel squad.

Insights from Zooch:

On Jake Hanson

“Jake is a really good player. He works hard and fights the defense. I think he makes us both better.”

DL standouts

“Drayton Carlberg my roommate. He is having a really good spring. Rex, Austin, T.J. all those guys. Everybody is getting better.”

On other OL having a good spring

“I think Shane Lemieux is having a good spring. Brady (Aiello) Calvin (Throckmorton) all the young guys.”

On this year’s defense and 4-3 base front

“More blitzes. Kind of different keys that you have to look at.”

Zona Add's 3d 5 Star MCBB

https://arizona.n.rivals.com/news/f...-as-five-star-commit-no-3-for-arizona-in-2016

This is the kid who broke the Nike Hoops record for the 3's, I think. Miller is incredible, but you know what, it's best for the P12 and Oregon for the best teams to compete. Once Altman started putting guys in the NBA it should get even better for Oregon to get some one and done's. In the meantime, having an experienced roster is ok too.
