Taggart’s sons following in his footsteps

http://www.usforacle.com/news/view.php/852679/Taggarts-sons-following-in-his-footsteps

I found this article a while back and just read it again. It's a couple years old but a great read about Willie Sr. and the now Freshman in HS Willie Jr and the rest of the Taggart clan.
If you chase one link today, this might be it. It completely relates to what he is bringing.......

Jamire Calvin

Interesting article on Big Red...the Nebraska site.

Kid committed to OSU on TV but may not stick.

I thought I read here that he is gonna visit Eugene soon.

Here is what the article says in part:

"Yana Johnson, Calvin’s mother, told the World-Herald on Wednesday that Calvin’s recruiting process isn’t over despite the dramatic announcement on NBC. NU is not only in the mix, Johnson said, it’s where Calvin prefers to attend. She said her son, a slot receiver at Los Angeles Cathedral High School, is committed to the Beavers in large part because he’s trying to consider his family’s ability to attend games.

“His heart is with Nebraska,” Johnson said."

And:

"Johnson said Calvin had switched from Nebraska to Oregon State on Saturday morning, largely because he wanted his family to see him play in college — both his parents, Johnson said, and Calvin’s younger sisters, who are 13 and 9.

“It’s something we’re trying to work through, how we’d be able to travel for the games,” Johnson said. “It’s not personal. It’s more of an issue of how we are going to get there. If we can’t go see him play in any games, then what is it all for?"

This weeks visit expectations

Brooks (LB), Gaddy twins (DL) from Virginia; Slade-Matiata (LB lock?), Lang (DE), Gary Johnson (JC LB). Do I have the list right? If we can get 3/6 we will be off and running at filling our remaining needs. Bet Leavitt and Coach Joe are here for these guys. Getting all three LB's would be a walk off, grand slam, homerun. I feel best about S-M and Brooks. Haven't heard much regarding Lang but a flip from SC would be great for momentum.

SF Chronicle /Cal likely to Hire Wilcox

Here is an excerpt from the article:

"Cal is expected to hire Wisconsin defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox as its head football coach, a source told The Chronicle on Thursday night.

Unless there are problems in final contract negotiations, he could be formally introduced at a weekend news conference.

Wilcox, 40, would replace Sonny Dykes. Wilcox has strong ties to the Bay Area. He was Cal’s linebackers coach for three seasons (2003-05) under Jeff Tedford, and his father, Dave Wilcox, is a Hall of Fame linebacker who played with the 49ers.

Cal also interviewed interim head coach and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital and Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo. Washington’s Jonathan Smith and Pete Kwiatkowski (the Huskies’ offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively) also were thought to be candidates, and former 49ers/Eagles/Oregon head coach Chip Kelly and Cal alum and current Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera were fan favorites.

Under Wilcox, Wisconsin’s defense ranked seventh in the country this season. Cal was 125th in the 128-team FBS."

Indoor Track To Begin

The women's team, if they remain healthy, could be one of the best in NCAA history.

Superstars Rogers,Washington, Stevens, Cunliffe, Wallace, Johnson, along with other All Americans and outstanding newcomers, including grad transfer All American and Big Ten Champion Elexis Guster, are ready for the lights to come on.

The Men also have a strong team including one of the top distance runners in NCAA history, "King" Cheserek, plus All American Marcus Chambers, grad transfer All American sprinter Kyree King transfer two time NCAA Div II national champion long jumper Damarcus Simpson, and Middle distance/ distance All Americans Blake Haney, Sam Prakel, and Mathew Maton.
Go Ducks!

We really do have an impressive number of returning starters.

Take a look at my depth chart updated with the new 2017 roster. I've default highlighted the returning starters and it really LOOKs impressive. Looks like at least 9 each on offense and defense.

One can always argue that experience without success doesn't count as much, but there is no doubt that Willie Taggart's cupboard is far from bare.

On paper best recruting staff in the country

I think we are all pretty amazed right now. I was excited about WT from the start and thought he would bring in a younger staff that got after it. He has done that, but has gone way beyond that by cherry picking some of the best coaches in the country from East to West. I see the same attitude in hiring coaches as I do in recruiting players. He doesn't settle. He has an attitude like Oregon is the best place in the country and he swings for the fences in everything he does. So far, he looks like he might be a 55 HR guy in MLB. Sure he will strike out some, but he is going to get his share

Part of this is the Ducks are shelling out the dough, but that is not all of it. I think Taggart got these coaches to believe that he is a winner and that the University of Oregon is the best place to be. He just stole a coach from Alabama for God sake. My feeling is that WT is an incredible leader and that he will get people to follow him. Players and coaches

The next couple of weeks are going to be fun as hell as they close out this class with a bang. Recruiters like Cristabol are not going to get 15 or 20 5 stars like they do at Alabama, but they will get some. The Ducks have this incredible momentum with these hires and offers. I am extremely confident they are going to blow us all away with what they do between now and signing day. Ducks are all the rage again!!
