Oregon Pro Day...

The Ducks had 13 players at Pro Day today and I was there to take in the action. Here are the guys who participated:

Evan Baylis
Pharaoh Brown
T.J. Daniel
Reggie Daniels
Cam Hunt
De'Quan McDowell
Johnny Mundt
Dakota Prukop
Johnny Ragin III
Dwayne Stanford (lifts only)
Matt Wogan
Tyson Coleman (last year grad)
Christian French (last year grad)

My overall impression was that the scouts were very interested in Pharaoh Brown and that Johnny Ragin looked very good.

I have three interviews I'm uploading, Dakota Prukop, Johnny Ragin and Cameron Hunt. I waited for about an hour for Brown but he still had a couple scouts who wanted to talk to him with the end nowhere in sight.

Here is how Ragin looked, summed up in a photo.

Spoke with QB Michael Johnson Jr...

He is a 2019 QB, son of Oregon WR coach Michael Johnson. He said he decided on Sunday that he will be transferring up to Sheldon HS this summer. The Ducks offered him recently as have 9 other schools. He will be one of the top QB's in his class.

Michael Johnson profile

I'll have the story in the morning but here are some quotes from him.

"I just decided on Sunday night to make the move to Eugene. I was really happy for my dad when he got the Oregon job but at that time I was not sure I was going to move up there. But after thinking it over I decided that it was best for my family if we moved. I did not want my mom and dad to have to be apart for two years."

"I love the Ducks, but right now it is a nine-way tie in my recruitment."

Dorsey was right...80 wasn't the problem...83 was!

This is where we will miss Boucher the most (defense) as well as he does carry us from time to time with the three ball and dunks. IMO he would have taken more than three points off of the Arizona total and probably scored more than the 3 points (KBW's total). Never can prove it but for my money we win that game.
Dana has his work cut out for him figuring things out. I just can't see how he can do it with the lack of size and depth we have. We scored THREE points off the bench last night (not good if you were wondering...LOL). I can see maybe winning two games and making the sweet 16 but if any team has good bigs all they have to do is get Bell away from the hoop a bit and we are toast. Brooks has to stay out of foul trouble. He did great the first half and than get's three rather quick ones in the 2nd half meaning pine time.
Last night was a result of our weaknesses coming forward plus bad shooting from the three line. No size, no depth and mediocre point guard play isn't a very good recipe for long time success....:(.
I thought we had as good of a chance as anybody to make the final four and win it prior to big Chris going down but injuries are part of everybody's equation. (talent, depth, no injuries and luck) and losing him wipes out 2-3 of those.
Here's hoping we over come some of that and make a decent run.....feel bad for the guys as they had a real shot!
GO DUCKS!!

Should Texas A&M Concede the Championship

Texas A&M wins the men's Indoor track and field title, but I am just thinking out loud that coach Pat Henry must be feeling a bit sheepish right now. Afterall, how unfair it was to an excellent Florida men's team to have to compete at Texas A&M's fieldhouse. I mean, Pat Henry of all people knows how unfair it is to allow a team to compete on their home turf.

Making the Case: Predicting where QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson will commit

Now that the Class of 2018 is officially on the clock, several of the nation’s top players have begun to cut their lists in advance of a commitment announcement. Today, experts from the Rivals.com network examine where Rivals100 quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson might end up playing his college football. The candidates are UCLA, Michigan, Oregon and Alabama.

The Situation: After waiting behind Tate Martell at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, of the most successful quarterbacks in high school history, Thompson-Robinson has now stepped into the spotlight. Despite never starting a high school game, he has some the nation’s top programs vying to land his commitment. Recently he announced he was cutting his list in advance of a summer commitment. But he also hinted that he may be offering a silent commitment to a program very soon. So where will he end up? We asked our team experts to state the case for their respective programs and let National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell issue a verdict.

OREGON
“Thompson-Robinson has the perfect blend of size, arm strength, accuracy, speed and athleticism to be a great quarterback in Willie Taggart's Oregon offense. We know Thompson-Robinson considered the Ducks one of his early favorites before Colson Yankoff committed (then decommitted), so this would be a tremendous opportunity for the talented signal caller. The Oregon offense will be tailor made for him to come in and compete for the starting position as a true freshman.” – Scott Reed, DucksSportsAuthority.com
