VIDEO: Oregon's infusion of Texas talent

Hey Guys: I have been on vacation, so this is a few days after the fact, but here is a quick look at the commitments of Arjei Henderson, Miles Battle and Verone McKinley. Battle and McKinley are both really good players, but Henderson is special for sure. I'm a little concerned that his recruitment is still open for consideration, but right now, there is definitely cause for celebration as this staff is really killing it with prospects.

Thanks for having a look!

Breakout season for Marcus?

This NFL.com writer seems to think so.

Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans
2017 projection: 3,500 passing yards, 500 rushing yards, 35-40 total touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Mariota is one of my favorite young quarterbacks because of the pressure he puts on defenses. He can do a lot, and his offense suits him well. We already saw improvements from Year 1 to Year 2, and 2017 will see Mariota become a top-10 quarterback. He's already quite good at seeing coverage and being able to pull the trigger downfield. But he also adds that element of being able to pull the football down and run. Because Mariota doesn't have to put the ball in potentially detrimental situations, we've seen steady improvement.

The Titans' offense is set up for Mariota to have an outstanding season. Veteran tight end Delanie Walker is a mismatch nightmare. Rookie Corey Davis tracks the ball well and will bring another element to the passing game. Free-agent acquisition Eric Decker's a huge bonus and will provide a 1-2 punch with Davis.

SNL and whats left in recruiting skill positions ?

First, I drove down to watch and expected to be bored for the most part. I was wrong. It was pretty cool and the Duck commits really stood out. As far as I could tell Travis Dye, and Lenzy were the winners of the 40 contest after they were done.

As has been said by others, lots of 3 star Ducks should be 4 stars soon. Two guys that surprised me were Spencer, who looks like a starting Pac 12 TE right now, and Jonathan King. King is built and he was right up front in the 40 yard dash. He can really move. This camp had great WR's and Miles Battle was as good or better than any of them

My question is how many more skill guys can they take? They have 17 or 18 commits right now. My feeling is that they need 3 more linebackers, 3 more Def lineman, and 2 more offensive lineman. Maybe someone knows if I am off a bit here, but if I'm right, this would put them at 25

There seem to be many more skill guys considering Oregon, but I don't see how they take more than 1 more WR and one more DB. They also have lots of skill guys coming in this falls class. Are grey shirts still in play in the Pac 12?

Recruiting Impact: Saturday Night Live Commits

The Ducks moved up to #7 in the Rivals recruiting rankings -and could get some bump in their counts when re-rankings come out. Currently the Ducks have 9 four-star and 9 three-star commits, but we expect at least three of those 3* prospects (Holland, Webb and Harrison) might get a bump to four-star in the future.

Here is a look at the impact of the four commits from SNL

RJ Barrett no.1 for 2019 class

He doesn't talk much about recruiting , it says, but at one point some thought UO would be in the running from it's CAN. connection. I doubt that's enough to count for much re him, but it doesn't hurt that he, Kijab and Pritchard were all U19 in Egypt together. He's another who could reclassify...probably Duke, UK or AZ, as usual, but you never know.

Hepa Still No Ducks Offer?

Thanks for posting Corey's write up on the front page. Pretty sure Hepa is no. 1 in this Oregon HS class, and I know Altman has been very interested. I guess his presence in Vegas confirms it. The problem is, if you could call it that, is that by most accounts Atman has a solid shot at better players. Still, this guy has a fascinating back story and will be fun to follow, regardless of where he goes. It'd be fun to have him at Oregon, but UO is in the running for some very big fish. Maybe he gets his offer, but maybe it will be too late?

2007 the greatest "What If" team ever

In my opinion, this was the second best Oregon team ever(maybe the best) behind the 2012 team(beat Kstate in the Fiesta). Was the best team in the country in 2007, when healthy. Would have steamrolled LSU. Most explosive offense of all time, and Belotti agrees. Wow. I will never forget that season, simply for the "what if's."

2018 Wide Receivers

This is my observation of the 2018 wide receivers from today. I think we end up taking 6 receivers with the intent that Lenzy and or Harrison could play defense, but both looked really good as receivers today as they were two of the fastest players in the 40 yard dash. Jaylen Waddle is the real deal, he's quick, fast, elusive and a must get. Battle is tall, fast, and can get open, great get for us. Crocker looks smooth out there would take him in a heartbeat. I just get the feeling that Cota isn't as interested in the Ducks as he should be. I don't think Ezekiel is a take at WR, but more a TE and I don't know that we'd take him there. The last guy that is intriguing is Cameron Sutton the transfer from Montana State, he looks the part in every way, tall, fast, built but he seemed to have Jason Williams hands the first 2/3 of SNL, but started making catches the last 3rd, I could see Oregon offering him. I think it's a 4 way battle for 2 spots:

Waddle
Williams
Crocker
Cota

My pick would be Waddle and Williams.

1. Lenzy
2. Harrison
3. Thompson
4. Battle
5.
6.
