Herbert's hand ????

I am apprehensive about posting this, but I am hearing from a extremely well connected Nebraska fan and close friend who is being told Herbert did break a bone in his hand. I have no way of confirming this other than this guy is as well connected as they get. I hope I am wrong and if so pile on because I will be happy to be wrong.

Talanoa Hufanga

The PIVOTAL recruit among the uncommitted players on the Ducks wish list--was he confirmed to make the trip this weekend.

The Beavers are completely in the tank, and Nebraska looks to be going sideways this season. Riley will hit his 8-4/7-5 sweet spot. They'll lose to Wisconsin, Ohio State and Penn State, then lose another one they shouldn't.

Hufanga's best chance to play for a team that's on the rise is clearly the Ducks. He had to have liked the energy and boldness the Oregon secondary showed.

A big, physical, smart safety is the missing piece on this defense, along with a stud middle linebacker. (Dye plays his heart out, and so does Apelu, but they aren't big enough to stop the inside running game.)

Post game notes: Nebraska...

Oregon vs. Nebraska Postgame Notebook
Sept. 9, 2017

Andy McNamara with Oregon Communications department distributed these post-game notes.
  • SR RB Royce Freeman became the fourth player in Pac-12 history and second Oregon Duck with rush for 50 touchdowns after scoring two vs. the Cornhuskers. He finished with game-highs of 29 carries and 153 yards, moving into fifth place on the conference's all-time rushing list with 4,450.
  • The Ducks had four interceptions in a game for the first time since Oct. 19, 2013, when Oregon defeated Washington State, 62-38, at Autzen Stadium.
  • FR CB Thomas Graham Jr. had the first two interceptions of his career. He finished the game with seven tackles (6 solo), two pass breakups and a tackle for loss.
  • Freeman registered his 24th 100-yard rushing effort, including his fifth straight game over the century mark.
  • SR WR Charles Nelson became the 28th player in school history to reach the 100-reception plateau with career bests of eight receptions (tied) and 117 receiving yards.
  • SO WR Brenden Schooler scored the game's first touchdown on a 32-yard reception. It was the first career score for the former starting safety and 2016 leader in interceptions. Schooler ended up with three catches for 41 yards and added a solo tackle on kickoff coverage.
  • SR S Tyree Robinson returned after sitting out the opener and picked up his fifth career interception on the first snap of the game.
  • FR S Nick Pickett made his first career start.
  • SO QB Justin Herbert recorded the third 300-yard passing game of his career, completing 25 of 33 attempts for 365 yards and three touchdowns against one interception. Herbert has now thrown at least one TD pass in all nine of his career starts.
  • SR CB Arrion Springs matched his career-high with a trio of pass breakups. Springs moved into a tie with Cliff Harris (2009-11) for the No. 8 spot on UO's all-time list for PBUs.
  • The Ducks scored 42 points in the first half for the second straight week, but were shutout in the second half for the first time since the overtime loss to TCU in the Alamo Bowl, following the 2015 season.
  • FR NG Austin Faoliu had the first tackle and tackle for loss of his career, ending with two stops and 0.5 TFL. Fellow true frosh NG Jordon Scott also had the first two tackles of his career.
  • Redshirt FR TE Cam McCormick had his first career reception.

Quick Verone McKinley Update

Hey Guys, sorry this is a bit late - saw McKinley last Thursday in his season-opener. The only time that I put the camera on solo on him was the attached clip in the tweet - an interception. He mentioned last week that he was interested in coming out for this weekend for the game vs. Nebraska, who I still sort of feel that he's keeping a minor interest in. I sent him a message to confirm if he had since made plans to be up there, but it's sounding more like he'll likely wait until after the season to official back to Eugene.
