What's up with having an Aggie chime in saying he's an "SEC style LB," lol. I mean you have the neutral national opinion going our way, but why not even it out and give Scott or an AJ a vote, lol. I like the bit about designing plays for him. That would be "dope" in modern parlance. Wouldn't you like to see him drag a few Huskies into the EZ?

What concerns me is that, like Patrick, he's likely to overlap his bro for only a year-- but what a year it could be. It might be hard for them to "out do" what we expect from Justin and Patrick (anticipated), but they could be tied or even win as the top 2 brothers to ever play for UO! They will certainly win the "brothers star rating" contest, and could easily win the "average NFL draft pick" contest. My guess, he may want to see how the team, and more specifically, the D does before making a decision.

Practice notes: Thursday 8-8

Just finished with Fall practice #6 which was in full pads Thursday morning. Here are my observations from the half hour of action we got to see.

  • Every time I watch the WR group I get excited. So much athleticism, so many guys who have the potential to be very good.
  • Juwan Johnson has gotten lots of press for his spring ball play, but today I noticed how hard he is working in practice. He lines of first to get the first rep of any drill, then he kept getting back in line, and the coaches would give him one last rep even though the drill was "over". Very nice
  • JR Waters did a nice job again, as did Mycah Pittman. I would not be surprised to see at least two frosh WR get plenty of game snaps this year.
  • Walking wounded, I saw Cam McCormick and Lance Wilhoite both doing rehab work today.
  • Also, looked like Jamal Hill was not working out today after injuring himself yesterday.
  • Brenden Schooler was watching practice and it was cool seeing Coach Feld spend time with him so he wouldn't be standing there all alone.
  • Looks like Bryan Addison is full go. I wasn't sure earlier in camp but today he seemed to be participating in all the drills.
  • Talking yesterday about Stud LB, I was saying great competition between Bryson Young and D.J. Johnson. Silly of me to not mention Mase Funa. Watching them today, I realized it would not totally shock me to see him beat one or both those guys out. In other words, Stud LB is in great shape this year with a solid three-deep.
  • And safety too, really. You have seven guys I could see playing: Holland Hallassie, Pickett, Breeze, Stephens, and then the two freshmen Hill and Bridges. Wow, that's a lot of depth.
  • Not quite as much energy today as yesterday which makes sense because you can't dial it up to 11 every day. You would burn your team out. But still it was a normal, efficient practice.
  • Pictures and some videos coming, but all for now.

PAC-12 coaches speak anonymously about the Ducks and the rest of the league

In a report from Athlon, coaches from around the league evaluate their opponents:

https://athlonsports.com/college-football/pac-12-coaches-talk-anonymously-about-conference-foes-2019

"Even with Herbert it’s not that old Oregon offense. They were a little predictable last year and it hurt them. They need to find a feature running back, they never really found anyone who could do what Royce Freeman did, not even by committee, and they have to replace Dillon Mitchell. They ran their whole pass game through that kid."

"It’s still really early to call these guys a playoff team or a conference champion, even. It’s not impossible at all, they just have plug a lot of these young guys in right away for that to happen. But you can ride a hot quarterback a long ways."
