Grad transfer QB?

Dale alluded to this in another thread so I thought I would bring it here.

- As many know, the Ducks took some looks at grad transfers like Jamie Newman, KJ Costello and a few others and those players ended up elsewhere; but Oregon did not stop looking.

- This past weekend Oregon hosted Anthony Brown and his family. The entire family fell in love with the area and the vision of Cristobal. They have not yet enrolled, but the odds are that the Ducks will land him for the 2020 season.

- What does that mean for Oregon at QB? Tyler Shough is the starter and, unless he regresses between now and fall camp, that is unlikely to change. The players and staff feel Shough is the perfect fit for Joe Moorhead's offense.

- Brown is being brought in not because of Shough, but because behind Shough are three players who have never played a snap of college football. Butterfield, right now, seems to be the most ready of the three, but Brown brings 18 games as a starter with over 4200 passing yards, 40 TD's against 20 INT's and he can carry the ball some.

- BUT, Brown has also needed surgery on both knees (right in 2017, left in October of last season) and will not be 100% until probably sometime next month(ish). He will be a good option. Could he come in and absolutely blow everyone away and beat out Shough? Anything is possible, and Brown knows he has to come in and compete.

- Shough is okay with Brown coming on board as it really is about creating some experienced depth at the QB spot and that is sorely missing right now.

- The Ducks are currently over the schollie limit, so there will be some attrition after the spring; at least three players will be moving on before summer begins.

- Brown is not yet officially enrolled which is why this has been so quiet and why it is not in an official story.

Ducks to add grad transfer QB...

Sounds like it is official now what Scott was reporting on two weeks ago. Should be an interesting battle with Shough for the start.

OT: Sucky day(s) ahead

Tomorrow I have to lay off 60% of my staff first thing in the morning. Technically I am "laid off" from this location as well, but I am being retained as the operations supervisor and will be working out of Portland.

We don't have all of the logistics of that figured out yet as I was hit with this news at 7:30 tonight.

Not easy on Leslie because it looks like our short term solution is for me to stay in Portland in the RV and come up to Redmond for three days every week. The layoff is temporary, but we have no time frame for when it will end. This is really about Freightliner needing to cut costs.

They have had to stop all production which is affecting their sales, so it could be as little as 2 weeks, but that seems unlikely optimistic. It will probably be more like 6-8 weeks. On the positive side, this might precipitate the last step of the promotion plan, but that is way off into the future.

Good News that Eugene & UO can use about now

The canceled Olympic Trials will be held in Eugene next year.

....and even better news... The World T&F Championships will be held in Eugene in 2022.

What this means to the University, Oregon, and Eugene can not be over stated. Good news! May 2022 find Phil Knight healthy and able to see his dream come true. Thank you Phil. The university of Oregon should be forever grateful for your devotion to your alma mater.

DSA Inside Reed: 3/30/20

The benefit of working from home? No one over my shoulders during the day! While there are no visits taking place, no practices, etc., that does not mean that there is zero recruiting information, it is just less than normal. Despite that slowness, some news continues. Today I have thoughts on the new OL offer, plus some thoughts on a couple other prospects:
