2021 Maui Jim Maui Invitational Relocates to Las Vegas

EUGENE, Ore. –
The Maui Jim Maui Invitational announced today that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, travel restrictions and COVID-19 protocols in the state of Hawaii, the 2021 tournament will relocate to Las Vegas. The event will be hosted at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Nov. 22-24.

“We were looking forward to our trip to Maui, and we thank the committee for all of their efforts in the hopes of hosting us on the island this year,” said Oregon head coach Dana Altman. “The Maui Invitational is a historic tournament, and we appreciate the people of Las Vegas for stepping up to host this year’s event and continue its storied tradition. We are excited to be a part of it and are looking forward to playing in this event.”

Health and safety guidelines for all attendees will be mandated by the tournament and will include proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test prior to games beginning, as well as a mask mandate inside the arena.

All previously purchased tickets will be refunded, and fans will have the opportunity to purchase new tickets for the event. Ticket information for the relocation will be available soon.

Rivals100 DE Nyjalik Kelly details Oregon official visit

I caught up with Fort Lauderdale DE Nyjalik Kelly who was here with his mom on 24th and 25th. The Ducks have a shot here.

Jumbo Package

I read somewhere ,(here?) that teams are having success against our D by running two tight end packages.

I guess it's on tape that we have not been real good against the double tight end and teams are exploiting that.

And now comes Stanford who seemingly invented the jumbo look.

Any insight here?

When Kiffin Changed the Tide

Interesting and well written ESPN article on when Saban rolled the dice on Kiffin and left ground and pound behind.

Grading the enemy: Stanford defense..

Starting up front with the DL. Cristobal gave these guys a lot of praise yesterday and they are the strength of the Cardinal defense. Partly because the DB's are not very good. Here are the numbers

  • You can see their best guys are probably their edge players.
  • Gabe Reid is their top rated DL and gets the most snaps of the edge guys. Jordan Fox and Stephen Herron are also both good players. Fox has missed an average of a tackle a game though.
  • Of their interior DL Thomas Booker is their best player who gets pressure from up the middle. #23 Ryan Johnson can be run at when he is in there.
  • A good DL that rotates in six guys.
  • Overall a 'B+' DL group
