Flock Talk: DSA tribute to Spencer Webb - Staring into the Stars

We decided to put this up now. It is our tribute to Webb. I won't have anything up tomorrow. I took some time to reflect just a little or would have done this sooner. This is still a very tough day.

OL Recruiting?

So far, no OL's. We should see serious interest from top flight OL's after yesterday, Dowdell and maybe Young. Mario just landed the top OT of the class. Anyone have thoughts on who we might realistically have a shot at? I recall that road grader from New England seeming to have real interest. The big names include Samson Okumlola and maybe the big kid from St Louis , McVey I think. Olaus Alinen the Viking.. Bound to be others. Man, especially of they land Young, the OL recruiting should be even better tan last year. Who am I missing (and misspelling)? All of those guys have offers from just about everyone.,

Article On Possible New Track Coach Candidates

I saw this on Trackducks. Special thanks to Chile!
Notice Ashton Eaton mentioned… doubtful he’d do it but in my opinion, he and his wife Brianne would be the best man and women track athletes in UO history!

Canzano

I have, wait for it, subscribed to a free subscription to Canzano's site.

Never in a million years would I have thought I would do that.

However, with all this realignment stuff going on, I have, as a CFB Junkie, read just about everything that I could get my hands on.

I came across Canzano's site and I have to tell you...it is way better than when he was at the O.

I suspect that is because he can now be more of a reporter too, can post multiple times a day if he wishes and doe not have to sell papers (yes, he still needs to sell subscriptions but at least he seems to be his own boss.)

Anyway, I don't even know the guy but I really like his stuff so far.

He and Wilner seem to have more "inside and accurate info" than the rest of the soothsayers.

That's ironic, because they are probably the two most... shall we say...controversial columnists on the West Coast.

Do as you will, but I think it is worth a look.

Since I'm not a Canzano shill I won't post his site address but you can find it in 10 seconds if you google it.

Recruiting under Lanning

UO Landed 17 high school LOIs last cycle and 11 HS commits so far for 2023 recruits. The total of 28 come from the following states:

4 California
4 Oregon
3 Washington
3 Texas
3 Nevada
3 Utah
2 Arizona
1 D.C.
1 Hawaii
1 Michigan
1 Mississippi
1 Nebraska
1 Tennessee

The 4 California recruits come from San Diego (Tucker, Florence), San Jose (Dickey) and Chatsworth(Wooten). Only Wooten comes from a suburb of Los Angeles. Of the remaining top uncommitted 2023 recruits in California, the only one UO has a good chance to get is Matayo Uiagaleilei, although we appear to be behind both USC and Ohio State. Meanwhile, UCLA and USC to a lesser extent are losing ground to some BIG-10, SEC and ACC schools in recruiting the Southern California market. IMO, California is still an important recruiting ground for UO. Under Lanning and his staff, however, it isn't a make or break area for UO landing a highly rated class going forward.

I put together a cool chart here to show Oregon's highest-rated commits, and Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney gives his perspective:
