USC—that didn’t take very long

I remember before the season started many were saying it would take USC at least a couple of years to be a 11 win team again. Looks like those assessments were wrong. For those denying it, USC was indeed a sleeping giant. What other Pac 12 school could go from 4-8 to 11-1 in a single year? Has any other Pac 12 school ever done that? Not saying I like it, but can we all just recognize the truth on this one.

Fair well to a Class Act

David Shaw had many great seasons at Stanford. He has exemplified dignity and sportsmanship at all times.

David has a house in Palo Alto but his home is in a hamlet within Santa Cruz County. I am proud to say that we live in the same little town.

Peace be with you coach. You are among the top football coaches in Stanford history. You represented your Alma Mater in a manner befitting of a great university. Here’s to the future!

Bowl projections--Ducks to Holiday

Jerry Palm of http://cbs.com projects USC to make the college football playoff, Washington to face Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, and Oregon vs. Duke in the Holiday Bowl on December 28.

Given the circumstances, that's a great landing spot for the Ducks.

Lots of interesting surprises today.

1. Shaw resigns.
2. Luke Fickell to Wisconsin
3. Hugh Freeze deal falls through.

I don't think Shaw affects Oregon much, but the others could.

If Jim Leonhard decides to move on, he is either going to get a shot somewhere or he could be one of the best paid DCs in the nation.

Freeze falling through is going to get Auburn folks sniffing around Oregon again. Don't think Lanning leaves, but given the donor unrest over the two losses, I don't think Oregon would consider a bidding war. I.E., if Auburn offers stupid money (like $10mil per year type stupid), would Lanning take it? Who knows, but I am certain Oregon would not match that number.
