MARIO'S GUYS

It's been said on TV many times that when Mario left (has it really only been a year?), he left the cupboard full for the next coach.

The implication is that Mario recruited very well and the new coach would have great players to work with.

Mario was going to bring an SEC-type player to the Ducks: big, strong, hard-assed.

Now that our SEC-trained new coach, Dan Lanning, is in charge, he seems to be systematically getting rid of lots of Mario's players.

So, were Mario's guys just not as good as we thought?

Do they just not fit DL's scheme very well?

Or are they just not hard-assed enough for DL...is he gonna out-SEC Mario?

Oregon's plan at QB already in action

What's up, everybody!

Oregon was in-home with Dripping Springs (Texas) four-star quarterback Austin Novosad last week with offensive coordinator Will Stein and the Ducks are pushing hard down the stretch for the Baylor commit with 48 hours to go until Signing Day. As for the chances here, I think Oregon is definitely in it, but it's gonna be a hard-fought battle. For some context, Novosad stuck with his Baylor pledge over the summer after taking visits to Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas A&M. I see this opportunity being a little different for Novosad though considering his long-standing relationship with Stein.

We'll have more as we get it confirmed.

Rumor Confirmed?

It looks like PK isn't going to throw tens of millions at HS players. I don't blame him if it's so. He is doing plenty for UO, especially in sports, and we cannot expect him to be our salvation for every 5 star hold out just before signing day. Much better ways to "donate" his money. Time to coach em up. Lanning came in as a last minute hire, put together a great staff. Then his OC bails. It is what it is. Deal with it. We have a great core team and if the class minus it's two highest ranked recruit dont stick, I'll remain optimistic.

SINGER TO USC

THAT SUCKS!

Former Arizona wide receiver Dorian Singer, the Pac-12's leading receiver, is set to transfer to USC, continuing a trend of top wideouts joining the Trojans.

Singer earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors this season, recording 1,105 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 66 receptions for Arizona. He had seven receptions for 141 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in an Oct. 29 loss to USC, which included a career-long 73-yard reception.

Travis Hunter Note (Not coming to Oregon, just a note)

Thought I would expand my title some so no one thinks I am implying Oregon has a shot here. But have heard from some people that he is not a lock to follow Deion Sanders to Colorado. In fact, there are some who feel that is a very low probability.

Will every team in the nation reach out to him? Yes. Do I think Oregon has a chance - I guess everyone has a 'chance' I just don't think it is a realistic chance right now.

Ajani Cornelius ranks in the top 5 Portal players.

Not sure if we have any fans of the Athletic here, and if it’s a faux pas to mention potential competing companies articles let me apologize upfront for that and feel free to delete the thread if so.

THAT BEING SAID… the Athletic has posted their breakdown of the top 25 players in the transfer portal. Current Duck O-Line target came in at number 4! I’ll post their breakdown of Ajani here, not too much depth on him, but here you go.

4. OL Ajani Cornelius, Rhode Island

Cornelius, a no-star recruit from Harlem, N.Y., just might be the Jared Verse of this portal cycle. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive tackle was a first-team All-CAA selection as a sophomore and flashed big potential with a strong performance against Power 5 competition when Rhode Island played Pitt in September. Cornelius has seen his recruitment blow up ever since he hit the portal at the end of November. He has used four of his official visits so far to see Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee and Ohio State.

Other notables-

Travis Hunter, DB/WR, Jackson St.- Rank #1
Jeremiah Byers, OL, UTEP- Rank #10
Dorian Singer, WR, Arizona- Rank #11
Hudson Card, QB, Texas- Rank #16 (4th QB)
DJU, QB, Clemson- Rank #17 (5th QB)

Other Notes- Not a single former Duck in the portal made the list.
