Many of you probably remember me about a year ago. Most of the time during this last year I have spent about a year in both Kadlec Hospital and Sacred Hospital in Spokane Washington. I collapsed at home in full respiratory arrest. I was resuscitated and place on a ventilator for 3 days, As I had no last wishes in place. they had no choice to apply CPR/ACLS and I was placed on a ventilator for for 3 days. While in the Hospital at Kadlec, in the ICU, I was also treated for a life threatening pneumonia. I eventually recovered from the Pneumonia I was placed in a room with a nurse attending me 24/7.
While in the ICU I was also diagnosed with s severe Heart, Heart Valve, Heart Pacemaker,Artificial,Aortic valve infection Stomach, Bladder, intestinal , Kidney infection and a Blood Infection. They had to operate on me in open Heart Surgery to clean out the infection in my heart. As Sacred Hospital has the best Cardiac Surgeon in the country, I told them, I wanted to transfer. I rode in an ambulance from the ICU from Kadlec on a a respirator to Sacred Hospital by ambulance for the 2/12 trip to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane,
After stabilizing me for 1 day, I was taken to Surgery for the very high risk operation. They gave me 25% chance of living. I was placed on a Heart Lung Machine and in the operation for over 6 hours by 4 of the best Cardiac Surgeons in the country. I had to fill out my final wishes for my family and designated as executioner of my estate( my youngest daughter) and given the last rights just prior to going into surgery.
After 3 full days placed on ice, remaining on the Heart Machine for 7 days. I eventually awoke in the ICU total paralyzed. blind, unable or move my bowels, or urinate.Over a period of over 1 month, I slowly recovered all of my functions. They were adamant that I remain in the Hospital for another 6 weeks, as they had “Pick Lines “directly into my heart to infuse a combination of antibiotics. I told them ( I am a Physician, Board Certified in 5 Specialty’s) that I would go AMA (Against Medical Advice) and return home immediately.
Almost every Physician, including the CEO and the Head Nurse urged me to stay, as they told me it was a near certainty that I would die if I was not give the full 6 week course. I had no glasses and was unable to see and the first Providence Perfusion nurse tested me and I failed. I then again threatened to go AMA. They finally sent another Perfusion Nurse, that had a pair of proper glasses, and I did the 24 four Antibiotics perfusion very easily, so they finally released me from the Hospital.I will be on the Antibiotics for another 4 weeks(myself doing the Perfusions).
I also have a growing Proximal Aortic Aneurysm, and am given approximately another 2 years to live.
