QuantumDuck Crap Vol. 6 - Boise St and the Civil War

*Notice: all opinions in this post are in no way supported or approved by DSA or any other person with an IQ over 100.

We have OldAsHellDuck, GenXDuck69, HuskyHater13 and DuckGirl23 here again for our round table.

Before we talk about the Civil War, any thoughts on the Boise State game?

GenXDuck69: Why does every victory feel like a loss? I mean we finally beat our P4 boogie man and I feel annoyed.

HuskyHater13: Me too. While I was happy to shut up BroncoBilly, something is off with the team. At times I feel they are crushing it and then they shit the bed.

OldAsHellDuck: Well at least Dan proved he is better than both Chip and Mario, he beat Truck Stop U, but he still ranks behind Rich.

DuckGirl23: I find it refreshing that a coach like Dan Lanning keeps the games close and does not blow out his opponents. It's the next best thing to not keeping score.

GenXDuck69: QuantumDuck I still cannot believe you are paying her.

QuantumDuck: I kind of agree with you guys, while I will take the victory, it feels like we are playing with fire. Let's talk Civil War. Who do you have winning?

DuckGirl23: I think I need to remind you that both schools decided to drop the name “The Civil War", because some people found it offensive.

OldAsHellDuck: It sounds like some people need a lobotomy.

GenXDuck69: No doubt. This is the Civil War, will always be the Civil War and if you don't like it, f*ck you.

HuskyHater13: I 100 percent agree. Hey DuckGirl23, why are Oregon States' colors orange and black?

DuckGirl23: Because they like those colors?

HuskyHater13: Nope. It's so the can go to the games on Saturday, hunt on Sunday and pick up trash on the side of the road the rest of the week.

DuckGirl23: If that is supposed to offend me, it was a very weak attempt. Rooting for your school is a good thing and picking up trash on the side of the road is a good civic responsibility. I am against hunting, but I will let that slide.

GenXDuck69: That civic duty would be because they are all criminals, having to pick up trash on the side of the road.

DuckGirl23: That is not nice, I am sure there are many Beaver fans who are not criminals.

GenXDuck69: I have a better one. How do you circumcise a Beaver fan?

DuckGirl23: Go to the doctor?

GenXDuck69: Nope. Kick his sister in the jaw.

OldAsHellDuck: Now that is a good joke.

DuckGirl23: Wait, I don't understand.

OldAsHellDuck: I have one too. Two Beavers fans are walking along the road and see a sheep caught in a barb wire fence. The first Beaver fan looks up and down the road and sees no one else and says, “I am going to have some fun". After a few minutes he looks at his buddy and says, “Do you want some of this? “. His buddy says, “I sure do. Let me see if I can get my shirt caught in the barb wire".

DuckGirl23: Ahhhhh. I am so triggered right now. You guys are like 10 phobics and isms, I can't name them all.

QuantumDuck: Before she recovers, score predictions.

HuskyHater13: 45 – 13 Ducks

GenXDuck69: 31 – 17 Ducks

OldAsHellDuck: If Rich Brooks was coaching 45 – 0, but I will say 20 – 17 Ducks. By the way, I should be winning the score prediction contest on DSA.

QuantumDuck: When you pay for a membership, you can enter the contest. Until next week.

OMG it's OAC !!! Civil war score guessing contest.

As promised, I have here in my currently unstained hand 5 football cards.
Troy Dye rookie card
Brian Hinkle card
Gary Zimmerman card
Coach John Robinson card
Deion Sanders either Rookie or second season card (I'll check later) Gotta believe if you are going to win this thing.

Scoring is different this year and while the main winner gets the cards, the secondary one gets the glory.. Main winner is most points
The third guy can just brag a little. Second it the guy with the best average score (minimum of 7 games) Third guy is the one with the most wins.
Yep, it's possible for one of you (or me) to claim all three

Scoring is simpler this year
100 points for correctly picking the winner
50 points for each exact score for a team in the game
25 for the correct spread
To determine the weekly winner in case of a tie is first one in.

Some of you lurkers, please come out of the shadows for just this one little thing. We'd be happy to have you and one of us 2nd year veterans is bound to keep you out of the bottom spot.

I'll post that at the top for a couple more weeks for the benefit of new players who stumble onto this thing.

THE Beav's prepped for the game by blanking previously unbeaten San Diego State on the road 21-0. Oregon might have looked past the Boise State game but both teams are 2-0 (as are the Apple cup teams for their Saturday game), before the kickoff of the first of the early season version of the contest.

We had 21 guessers this past week and I love to see us build upon that here.

I think I'll repeat the score I tried unsuccessfully last try.

Ducks win 45-17.

So much for Zona winning the B12: KSU 31/7

I taped and watched the end of the game last night and it appears that, despite T Mac and Fifita, Zona just doesn't have enough good players to beat a really good team like KSU.
I look forward to the ASU v. UA game, whenever that is. Dilly has a chance in year two.
UW didnt get TM or F, but the rest of the roster was depleted. Oh well, I AM glad those two stayed at Zona and didn't portal to UW. T Mac is a first rounder, for sure, Fifita probably a 3d or a portal transfer. KSU's Johnson is a damn good DT QB vs a horrible UA D.

Rich Brooks Analyzes Ducks After Two Games

Spencer makes some nice pods for UO fans, and those of us old enough to remember know it really all started with Rich Brooks. Sure, Bellotti and Kelly played huge roles in developing UO as a power progrum, but it's great to hear from Brooks. At Kentucky he had some really good years too.
Rich is da man. I hate to say it, but our staff has a ways to go before they reach game coaching like Brooks and Bellotti. Different era for sure, but with the talent he had,...let's just say he was one hell of a coach.
If you have time to listen and read the comments, many of the oldsters seem to agree.

Flock Talk: The Waiting

I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of unmet expectations this week. That led me to this week's Flock Talk topic with some thoughts on how Great Expectations have tempered a season full of hope - including recruiting.

West Linn's Leavitt for ASU

So far they but a hurt on Wyoming and beat Miss St. . Tied late in the 4th vs. TX St. From the little I have seen our home boy has a bright future. If Dilly can just surround him with some talent, who knows? He's very fast, but like all dual threat QB's you wonder how much he can get away with on ground. It appears that Klemm's son is an OL for ASU. HE may have been an underrated QB in his class. True soph. Reminds me than a little of Nix.

Beyond the Pond: An outside look at the OSU game

Today the return of an old feature with a new name. We caught up with Brenden Slaughter of BeaversEdge for some insights into the game from OSU side in Beyond the Pond:

Depth Chart

I posted this during the BSU game thread, and I'm no sure howp to date the creators will keep it. For instance, it lists Bedford and Iuli 2d and 3d string as opposed to injured. On the other hand, each player has a link to his GoDucks bio.
I like to use these during games because the announcers often don't call out player names who we want to follow, and with substitutions and player movement it's often hard to follow stuff that happens away from the ball for instance. Anyway, with Chile gone this is a decent resource. I assume we can look up opponents depth charts as well for each game throughout the season.

Ducks in the polls, week 2

Well, after that less than sterling performance vs Idaho on Saturday, Oregon has fallen off a bit in the rankings.

The Ducks are currently:
- #6 in the USA Today Coaches poll
- #7 in the AP poll
- #8 in ESPN’s power rankings

Obviously early in the season, so not much sense in fretting about any of it, but… for those of us who’d like to see Oregon finish a season ranked #1, these moves are in the wrong direction.

Wednesday War Room: First Look at OSU

As the Ducks and Beavers prepare for their much-anticipated matchup this weekend, Oregon will look to build on early-season momentum while addressing key weaknesses that have emerged through the first two games. Oregon State, coming off a strong start, aims to continue their balanced attack, featuring a combination of efficient quarterback play and a physical running game. The rivalry adds another chapter as both teams enter the game with much to prove on both sides of the ball.
Oregon will need to shore up protection for quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who has been under constant pressure through two games, as the Ducks have allowed seven sacks. On the ground, Oregon's rushing attack has yet to hit its stride, with Jordan James as the lone bright spot. Meanwhile, Oregon State’s defense, led by edge rusher Oluwaseyi Omotosho and a stout secondary, will look to exploit Oregon’s offensive line struggles.

On the other side, Oregon State boasts an efficient passing game, led by quarterback Gevani McCoy, and a strong rushing attack featuring Jamious Griffin. Oregon’s defense, anchored by edge rushers Jordan Burch and Matayo Uiagalelei, will be tested as they seek to disrupt McCoy’s rhythm and contain Griffin’s power running.
Today in the War Room, we take a first look at the game, key matchups and key Oregon State players to watch.
