Another big weekend ahead

Don't have the full list, but it is MOSTLY a junior day with a lot of 2024 prospects (like, too many to list them all).

The biggie, though, is Nyckoles Harbor (2023). Staff was in home tonight and I like their odds at this point (significantly better odds that with Pleasant).

I feel that the official will be a clincher in this case. Will others claim Oregon 'bought' him if he commits? Of course they will, but given his track performance, he has at least already proven himself on a stage.

Ducks are looking at him as an athlete and he will see his first chance on offense.

Nyckoles Harbor on Fire

The indoor 60 is the closest track event to football’s speed standard the 40m. Thus it is probably the best indication of track speed applied to football.
Harbor just blew away the competition in a high school indoor 60m by running a 6.61. That is the top US high school time so far in this indoor season.

I heard him in an interview respond to a question about how he compares to his “rival in Cali.” ( Pleasant) . He was very relaxed and in good humor in responding that we will be finding out.

For the time being, who is faster all depends on the day and distance . They are both unusually talented two sport athletes. I can tell that they have track in their blood. These kids dream of the roar of the crowd as they hit that finish line. They dream of victory laps and celebrations with their 4x100 teammates.
You’ll never change them. They both have the obsession.

The lure of an NFL contract may interfere with their track success, but they both seem like track kind of guys.

Lot of information on finances and college sports

This article postulates that the problems are so big that only a national effort by the federal government can solve the problems. We have gotten to a sad state when we have to think that only congress can do something. Alas, they will probably only make it worse.

Wednesday War Room: Big Weekend ahead of signing day

From the article:

"The in-home with Nyckoles Harbor went spectacular and now there is a chance for an official visit. I know that the staff will be working to show off the value of Oregon from facilities, to development, to education. Given the things I have heard about the plans for the weekend, I think that Oregon is in really good shape here."

Very crowded safety room...

Tysheem Johnson is the first "hire" by new safeties coach Chris Hampton, and it makes the safety room really, really crowded. Not only do we have fellow transfer Evan Williams (a likely starter or at a minimum someone who will get lots of PT) there, but also returnees Steve Stephens and Jamal Hill. Toss in Bryan Addison, J.J. Greenfield and Trejon Williams, along with newcomers Tyler Turner and Kodi Decambra, and you get lots of bodies. And that doesn't even count sometimes-safety Trikweze Bridges, and former safeties Jeffrey Bassa and Connor Soelle. It suggests to me that some of those returnees might want to consider leaving for greener pastures, and that Hampton (and Lanning) doesn't think we've had consistent, high-impact play from our safeties (not since Jevon Holland and Verone McKinley, anyway) Any thoughts on this, mes amis?
