Taking time off

Sorry if this is incorrect place for following info. I joined this site a couple years ago have read with interest since then. Unfortunately, my health went south early this year and 4 shoulder surgeries with nasty infection I have missed the boards. With healing in progress I now have been given diagnosis of Merkel Cell Carcinoma and radiation therapy starting next week. Mcc is a killer with very extreme aggressiveness. I'll take time off here to begin fight but will follow board. Keep it interesting gang,

Handicapping the 2016 Ducks

I wonder if anyone else has forgotten TCU besides me? I'll bet more than a few. When we think back on that black hole of despondency in San Antonio most of us responded like a wailing Greek Chorus watching an unspeakable tragedy. Which it was.

But in the space it takes John Snow to rise from the dead to Kingship of the North, in the intervening 8 months we have seen a resurgent Duck Army rising in a march to the PAC 12 Iron Throne.

Consider that without a defense how great we were on offense, even with a quarterback who joined late in the Fall. Think about it. And recognize not only the degree of offensive talent we continue to have in place as we march into 2016, but the incredible coaching minds that molded and shaped that talent into a scoring machine that, IMHO is even better this year. The bottom line is that NO ONE will be able to stop our offense. Period.

As for the QB issue....what issue? If we can agree that Pukop is, at worst, a serviceable journeyman who can distribute the ball and run if necessary, how remote can he be with a talent level that is no less than Darron Thomas had when he led us to the NC? And probably better. And we have backup, in spades, in young guns who can pack heat if Prukopf goes down.

But the clincher is defense, and how we've turned this chitty chatty bang bang of a stop and study, yielding, charity of yards, time and touches defensive Sisters of Eternal Giving into a buzz saw, driven by a salty , bloody minded defense minded perfectionist. Read between the the canned lines we get from the O blog daily. Consider how little improvement it would take to eclipse last year. I sense we are in attack mode now and encouraged by the first two opponents we have to get this D in synch.

I've never been much of a homer. But I do believe we have serious contender here, this year, that will embarrass the doomsayers and make dupes of the ESPN talking heads once again.

I'm all in.

OT: Libations and Entertainment

I was commissioned to begin a running social thread which might help find some unity for our members. So, I like this idea conceptually, of giving our members a place to share those things which they enjoy. In libations, it can really be any drink; beer, wine, liquor. With entertainment, talk about your favorite TV show, movie, music, all those things which tend to create better relationships as we discover some mutual interests.

The first rule is we do not ridicule the taste of others. Just because you may (or may not) like or dislike a particular music form, group, etc., is no reason to verbally harangue another member because theirs is not shared.

The second rule is this does NOT include politics or religion (or lack thereof). At all. Ever. Just a chance to share our joys and passions outside of football.

I will get this started with my picture. I like scotch. A lot. I prefer single malt, but like a really good blended when available. For Father's Day, my youngest son bought me this bottle of Johnnie Walker Platinum! (Not quite as smooth and textured as Blue Label, but still a very, very good blended scotch!

Where LB unit fell off

Thanks Guys! I mean it.

Thanks to those who took the time to take time to brighten this man's day. At age 73 (birthday last week) I figured I had undergone my last surgery. First one 61 years ago playing CYO tackle football I mangled a wrist and forearm.

Anyway, I was surprised at the positive responses but should have known that this site is one of a kind. It I can get this surgical drain out next week my wife will be driving over the mountains to Autzen for season opener. Maybe limp over to tailgate?
