Oregon Basketball fans, buckle up !!!

It's early, but I am going out on a limb. This Oregon Basketball team is the most athletic we have ever had. The Freshman are as good as advertised and the transfers are the real deal. This all adds up to a heavy weight on Altman's shoulders because he has the talent this year to make some noise. Dana is the master of blending a first year team into something special, and he will have his opportunity again this year. I sure hope the players are coachable. We may have 3-4 NBA players on this team when its all said and done. Troy Brown is unbelievable and may be our best ever !!!, Elijah Brown proved Friday night he can be our Dylan Ennis type player, mature, good decisions, assists and can score when needed, Victor Bailey Jr., is a high wire act that will take over games this year, Abu Kigab is special, Kenny Wooten will play in the NBA, McIntosh is a beast, and Paul White is big, tall and can score big time. Payton is going to have fun with this group and I bet his scoring and shooting percentage improves big time. Even though the competition level was weak Friday night the team showed me something..... Easy game and they still played hard for 40 minutes, they were unselfish, Elijah Brown already realized not to press and let the game come to him, the Freshman have no fear and they ran their offense. The only thing I see that will be an issue is can we defend in the paint ???? That may be our achilles heel but as McIntosh and Wooten gain confidence we should improve. This is going to be a fun season watching this team develop. It may take 12-15 games to figure it out, but I think it will be worth the wait.

Throw out the records?

They always say "throw out the records" about rivalry games but I'm not sure you really can this year. The Beavers really stink. The defense gives up 41 points a game and their only win this season came at home against 0-11 Portland State, and even that one was close.

It isn't likely the Ducks will overlook them or be overconfident, given last year's loss. There's enough junior and senior leadership to remind them all what the game means. Besides, this is a team that seems to have a lot of fun playing football. They'll be energized by the taste of winning and the prospect of having earned a bowl game.

The talent gap is gigantic. Thomas Tyner has been a bit player for the Beavs in his return to football; he's not likely to "run wild" and spark an upset.

OSU will be fired up at the start but that stuff lasts half a quarter. I think Oregon wins big. Forecast is 53 degrees, raining, winds 5 mph. Nothing Justin Herbert isn't used to.

Ducks potential bowl destinations, and big scheduled recruiting weekend

Bowl projections are coming out.

SI and SB Nation have the Ducks going to the Las Vegas Bowl versus Boise State on December 16.

The Sporting News predicts Oregon goes to the Cactus Bowl on December 26th versus West Virginia.

This will all play out, but the Ducks coaching staff has a huge recruiting weekend scheduled for December 15, with official visitors that include Talanoa Hufanga, Dawson Jaramillo and many others.

How is this going to work out? Obviously from a recruiting standpoint, the Cactus would be a better fit.

Anyone have thoughts or information on this?.

We need to talk about how impressive that win was.

Ok guys, that win was incredibly impressive for our team and coaches. Almost 600 yards of offense and 48 points...we get our qb back and all of a sudden our offense looks great again. Can we all stop freaking out about taggarts ability to coach an offense. Maybe he is not an offensive genius...but he is good enough to get the job done when he has a good qb. That seems obvious.

But the defense was more impressive. We had a thread on how we would stop Tate. Looks like JL figured that one out. Less than 200 yards passing and 32 rushing. That is something few teams have done of late. And one of the big reasons for that success was how well our dbs played...on an island all day and they got it done. Just think how good this defense will be as talent level increases. What a transformation from last year.
