Okay. I posted in one of the other threads that his visit was great at FSU and I think that is going to be where he ends up unless there is a post visit luster that wears off and his mom gets cold feet about distance.
However, as much as I know we all love to bash the new FSU head coach one thing about the visit that is creating some consternation is the fact that his high school coach went along with him on the trip. There is plenty of speculation so let me address some if that here:
- He does not have a father present and his coach is the closest thing he has to a father; no different than Spencer Webb's brother and aunt in essence. It was a legitimate inclusion for the trip
- Taggart cannot hire this coach for an off field position for two years if he does in fact sign Harrison, so there is no quid pro quo in this.
- If we want to throw out accusations of 'he was paid' every time someone goes elsewhere, just remember that is what USC folks still say about DAT (and Texas folks still think Oregon paid Lache Seastrunk as well).
- Yes, Harrison's coach is one of the few people who bought into the negative recruiting tactic that Oregon was going to be like Alabama only even more conservative. (My response would be 'okay, sure, we are going to be just like Alabama and put Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley and countless other wideouts into the league; remind me again how many receivers who played for Taggart made it to the league and stayed?'')
- From our FSU people, Taggart's pitch ofbeing like a father is resonating with Harrison's family. His mom gave Taggart a long hug at the end of the trip.
- Don't read too much into the brevity of Harrison's tweet. He is not trolling Willie Taggart or 'playing' him; he likes FSU and they are, right now, his choice. That could change in the next two days as the Oregon staff continues to try and get him back into the fold.
- I expect some recruits to start tagging top targets in the next couple of days; but I also know that they are talking off line via text.
