Post-season hoops awards for Ducks...

EUGENE, Ore. —Sophomore Payton Pritchard and freshmen Troy Brown Jr. and Kenny Wooten earned Pac-12 honors as the league’s annual awards were announced Monday. The trio has helped lead Oregon to its eighth-straight 20-win season as the Ducks are one of just 13 programs nationally with a streak of that length.

Pritchard was named to the all-Pac-12 second team, Wooten was a member of the all-defensive team and Brown Jr. earned all-freshman honorable mention laurels.

Pritchard, from West Linn, Ore., is averaging 14.6 points per game and 4.8 assists per game. The only returning starter from the 2017 NCAA Final Four team, Pritchard has led the Ducks in scoring 12 times this season and in assists 20 times. He also ranks among the Pac-12’s top 15 in eight different statistical categories: scoring, three-point field goal percentage, three-pointers per game, free throw percentage, assists, steals, assist-to-turnover ratio and minutes played.

Wooten, from Manteca, Calif., leads the Pac-12 in blocks with 84, averaging 2.7 per game to rank in the top 15 nationally. Wooten’s 84 blocks rank third in Pac-12 freshman season blocked shots. He trails only Jelani McCoy of UCLA (102, 1996) and Oregon’s Jordan Bell (94, 2015). On the UO single season list, his 84 blocks rank fourth, while that total also ranks sixth on the UO career blocks list.

Brown Jr., from Las Vegas, is averaging 11.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He is the Ducks’ leading rebounder and ranks among the Pac-12 leaders in that category. Earlier this season, Brown Jr. posted three straight double-doubles, and just missed a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists Dec. 13 versus Portland State.

The sixth-seeded Ducks open Pac-12 Tournament play Wednesday versus No. 11 Washington State at 8:30 p.m. in Las Vegas (Pac-12 Networks).

Austin Jones
Nick Lucero/Rivals.com

Early contenders: Notre Dame, California, Washington, UCLA, Oregon, Stanford, among others.

Breakdown: Jones is a Bay Area standout who has already compiled a national list of scholarship offers. As expected, several Pac-12 schools are heavily involved in his recruitment, included the two schools closest to home, Cal and Stanford. But Jones has also praised Oregon and Washington and Notre Dame has made it clear to him that he’s a major priority in the class. His visits over the next few months will be telling, with Stanford likely to be his next stop.

You can see the rest of the list here.

Raevyn Rogers at World Indoor Championships

I am not going to be watching this live on flotrack. I will not be checking for results. I am going to be watching the telecast presentation Sunday between 1 and 3 on NBCSN. Raevyn will be running the 800 finals. She also was moved to the 4x400 team, which is a gigantic complement since she is an 800 meter runner. Raevyn ran the anchor leg in the simi finals. She is not likely to run in the 4x400 finals... but has made a great contribution to the team. Phylis Francis is likely to run in the finals. I don't expect Raevyn to make the podium in the 800, but just to be in the finals is a big accomplishment for someone in their rookie pro season..., let's see how she does... we've learned over and over that she is a gamer.

End of quarter strategy

when the women’s basketball team has possession of the ball at the end of quarters, there is only one player on their team that should have the ball in her hands, and that’s Sabrinia. She didn’t, and Ducks not only turn the ball over with 5 seconds, but UCLA scores. Basketball is so easy when you make the right plays, and give the ball to your best player. Right now, at the beginning of the 2nd qtr, Bruins are out playing the Ducks. Sabrina has got to get the ball, and make plays, and score today for them to win. Ducks are a very big team, but many of them simply cannot dribble, making Bruin’s D hardly needing to break a sweat

Barkley is a Freak

OK...I admit it....I'm a Combine Junkie...

Check this out for SaquonBarkley:

Barkley joins Vernon Davis as the only players over 230 pounds to run a 4.40 or quicker in the 40 while also recording a vertical jump over 40 inches in the combine since 2003.
