Daewood Davis adds 25 pounds of muscle...

Great catching up with Daewood today. Says he has gone from 160 when he got here and is now up to 185. He looks to have basically no fat on his frame so it's all muscle.

He also said he almost left after Taggart left last year. It was a very tough decision to stay.

I'll have the full interview up later today.

Awesome Interviews With Duck Track Athletes

I really wanted to post these two interviews. One interview is with men's javelin thrower Jaxson Vanvuren. The other is with All American women's distance runner Samantha Nadel. These are two athletes that are currently kind of "on the bubble of scoring or not in the NCAAs" ...So you might say that they could be pivotal to the success of the team at Nationals. The interview goes into depth...it isn't a superficial sound bite interview. I am really impressed with what Jaxson has to say about the throws program. Samantha sounds articulate and intelligent, which is not surprising. She is a Georgetown graduate.

Duck Depth Chart for TRACK? Why not.

So here it is: Track Ducks - Roster viewer

It isn't really a depth chart in the football sense but I've made a new web app that in addition to showing a compact roster for the men and women of the Oregon Track and Field team with the bio pop-ups you might be familiar with from my football chart, also lists each event showing all athletes that have a recorded mark in that event ordered by their person best times. So it's much easier to see how many, and who the top performers are in each event.

Soon I'll have the record book integrated so you'll have an easy way to view the top Oregon historical performers in each event and how the current team compares, but for now, since I have started recording personal best times, I can now easily generate charts like the one below showing the amazing number of new best times the Ducks recorded on the first weekend of the new outdoor season. (some of these may not look right because the old mark looks better, these old marks are from marks made prior to Oregon)
