Flock Talk: Rivers and Roads

So, I took the title from a song by the band the head and the heart; it was kind of an inspiration about how athletes leave one set of 'brothers and sisters' to join another; then leave again.

Mostly, though, it is about Bol Bol's value as a leader based on his decision to stay around the team when he could have easily gone somewhere else to prep for the draft.

Plus a little bit about why the outside 'pressure' is not real when it comes to the second year of the program under Cristobal.

Happy Friday!

Transfer Portal Impact: Pac 12

Rivals takes a look at how each team will be affected by the transfer portal this season.

Transfer Portal Impact: Pac-12

OREGON
Additions: WR Juwan Johnson(Penn State),

Subtractions:
QB Braxton Burmeister(Virginia Tech), WRTabari Hines(N.C. State), OL Jacob Capra(San Diego State)

Currently in the Portal:
RBTaj Griffin, WR Demitri Burch

Grade:
C+ -- The Ducks are losing some depth in Capra, who saw plenty of action during his time in Eugene. Burmeister also made a few starts for the Ducks over the past two seasons, but never lived up to his four-star promise. Oregon fans will hope Johnson can do what Hines couldn't last year, come in as a grad transfer wide receiver and make a major impact.

This point spread is Washington's fault

Had the Huskies not stumbled versus Auburn and then again in the Rose Bowl versus Ohio State, the PAC-12 would have more credibility in national games.

Way-too-early point spreads are out, and the Ducks open as a 3-point underdog to Auburn in the season opener, August 31st at ATT Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Tigers will have the SEC mystique, but a first-time starter at quarterback, maybe even a true freshman.

AT&T seats 100,000 and probably 65,000 of those will be in blue and orange. It's a virtual home game for War Damn Eagle, an 11-hour drive down I-20, or an hour and half by plane.

Oregon now in the top three for 2020 forward Angela Dugalic

Hey guys, I just wanted you to all know that Oregon women's basketball is now in the final three for 2020 forward Angela Dugalic out of Maine West High School in Des Plaines, IL. Some of you might remember that I provided an update on her a couple of months back. Her coach Jerald Davis shot me a note earlier this week saying that she had dropped Cal from her list and was down to Marquette, Oregon, and UCLA.

I asked her coach about her decision and this is what he told me: “Oregon was her dream school and Marquette the logical close to home school and both offered over a year ago and established relationships. UCLA did a much better job in their home visit and with them being the two top public universities she went with UCLA. Her timeline for visits changed because she is traveling to Serbia.”

While UCLA appears to still be in there, this feels like a race between Oregon and Marquette. Marquette has the advantage of being close to home, but Oregon has the advantage of being Oregon, which her coach said, is her dream school. I would bet on the Ducks right now.

ESPNW has her as a 4-star recruited ranked #33 overall and #7 at her position. So she's supposed to be really good.

Outdoor Track Season

Before we turn the page and move on to the outdoor season, I just want to put some perspective on how much was accomplished by our women in the indoor season. Remember how they were decimated by outgoing transfers? Remember that the Powells went on to coach at Washington. That didn’t stop the show. They finished third in the NCAA!

Now let’s move onto the next chapter.
