Lady Ducks vs. Lady Bears Friday at 4:00 Pacific.

Well we have our hands full for sure but I guess you always will getting to the final four...…:) Baylor only has the one loss (to Stanford) and also ASU played them tough as well as South Dakota State. The ladies can do this but it's going to take a game like Sunday where we hit our threes, play tough, physical defense w/o getting in foul trouble and rebound, rebound and rebound. All five key players are going to have to play well with quality bench minutes and it would be nice to see Boley find her stroke sometime before game time!
If I got my wish it would be we win, meet N.D. in the finals and pay them back.....:).

GOOD LUCK LADY DUCKS!!!!!!!!

Tyler Dorsey on the Griz

Looks like he's back to getting some playing time. That 2d yr at uO seems to have helped his career. I sure hope King comes back, as he was showing a great shooting stroke by season's end, although like Dorsey after yr 1, he really needs to work on the rest of his arsenal.

Some encouraging developments in the outlook at receiver

Scrimmage Saturday in Hillsboro, open to the public, so we'll get a first-hand look, but it's positive that:

1) Juwan Johnson finished his work on his degree and Penn State and is enrolled, will start practice Thursday rather than having to wait until summer. Big contrast to Tabari Hines, who didn't arrive until summer and was recovering from a procedure. He'll get a chance to learn some of the offense and begin developing some chemistry with Justin Herbert.

2) Mycah Pittman practiced today and took reps with the twos. Cristobal says he's been in the playbook and is already learning the terminology (he worked video chat with the staff prior to his arrival).

3) Patrick Herbert joined the team today. He's reasonably familiar with one of the quarterbacks.

4) Josh Delgado has been here since January, all through spring practice and winter workouts.

5) They are working against a strong secondary, as A.J. noted in his practice report.

6) Although it's tough losing a highly productive receiver like Dillon Mitchell, if they can identify some combination of 3-4 guys to replace him, the offense will have better balance. Interested to see how much more confident Herbert becomes working through his progressions as a senior.

Improved depth and competition should help the results on the field. Johnson, Addison, Schooler and Redd will have to work to keep their jobs.

Tuesday practice notes...

I'll add to these as I go, but here are my initial thoughts sitting down after the open practice session today.

  • New faces in the crowd for the first time today: Mycah Pittman, Camden Lewis, Mykael Wright, Patrick Herbert
  • Penn State WR transfer Juwan Johnson was there but in street clothes. He is a very large dude with an NFL-type body. I like the fact he was very into watching the practice. You could tell he very badly wanted to be in there.
  • Mycah Pittman was running with the twos. I have no idea why this was the case or if it was only for the three periods they let us watch. But still, it was quite surprising to see him thrown to the wolves like that.
  • Patrick Herbert was with the threes today.
  • Pittman is not quite as long as I was thinking but he is pretty thick. He has outstanding quickness and I was impressed with his soft hands.
  • Watching Lenoir and Graham again today, I am becoming more and more convinced that the Ducks could be very good at CB this year. Add Woods, McKinley and Hailassie to the mix and they have nickel and dime covered very well.
  • In fact, this might be one of the best defensive backfields in recent memory when you throw in the safeties with Pickett, Holland, Breeze, Gibson and Stephens. That is a total of ten DB's that I think are ready for Pac-12 play.
  • I'm not sure if he is 100% yet but Cale Millen looked good today with his arm. You already know Herbert and Shough can spin it so I won't go over them again. I do think the Ducks are in much better shape at QB than they have been lately.
  • Next practice is Thursday. I will add some photos to this thread plus anything else I can think of.
  • All for now.
