2020 NFL Draft

I love the Spring.

Football writers have nothing to do but make up rankings and polls and such.

Still, I love it when they give some love to the Ducks.

5. Justin
12. Throckmorton!
43. Troy Dye

Transfer Rules

Long and boring article from Oregon Live.

However, there is a lot of info in it if you care about the transfer rules.

To sum it up, the rules changes that the Coaches want to make go something like this.

After the NCAA approved a rash of transfer waivers for prominent college football players, college football coaches are advocating for all undergraduate transfers to have to sit out a year, but gain it back upon graduation, and for the NCAA to review its waiver process to only be for “documented and proven” circumstances.

I approve wholeheartedly.

Myles Slusher: Film room...

Oregon football recruiting continued its run of success on Monday when Broken Arrow (Okla.) cornerback Myles Slusher became the seventh commitment to the class of 2020.

  • Listed in the database as a cornerback, you can see on film how he could easily fill the role of safety also. In fact, I wonder what the plan will be for him at Oregon.
  • One of the big reasons for this is his run support. He is a physical tackler and plays at the line of scrimmage very well.
  • His timing is very good. He seems to be able to get to the receiver right as the ball gets there.
  • If it weren't for his size, he would be a linebacker. That is how he plays.
  • I like his on field demeanor. Definitely has some swagger but it looks to be under control.
  • Good tackling technique for the most part. A few times he tries to knock a guy over rather than wrap up but since he successfully knocks the guy down it's hard to argue too much. On the other hand, nobody includes clips of them not wrapping up and the guy bouncing off and running away.
  • Overall I think this will be good guy who could play CB, S or nickel. Good versatility.

Ducks at 40-1, just behind UW at 35-1. Huskies replacing 9 of 11 starters on defense, OT McGary, 4-year starters at QB and RB, early round NFL draft choice at tight end. Schedule is favorable but that's a lot of rebuilding.

If I were a gambling man (I'm not anymore) I'd short-sell the Dawgs and put 2 dimes on the Ducks.

Weird how USC can have so much talent and remain so mediocre, more so now that Oregon is stealing some of that talent right out from under their feathered helmet.

How many current Ducks are future NFL Draft picks?

Washington fans were woofing today about 4 Huskies being selected early in the NFL Draft while no Ducks were selected before the 4th round.

Where's Nike U? One asked. All flash and no substance. Coach Petersen really develops players.

Certainly the Huskies deserve credit for a good draft class, one that won a couple of PAC-12 titles.

But the score in Autzen Stadium last fall was Flash 30, Substance 27.

If Mario Cristobal and staff keep recruiting the #1 class in the conference, there will be a lot more early round draft picks coming out of UO in the future. And some conference titles.

Of the top of my head, I'd say Herbert, Dye, Sewell, Throckmorton, Scott, Graham, Thibodeaux and Lenoir are NFL players one day. DJ Johnson has an NFL body. Juwan Johnson. Mycah Pittman? Mykael Wright? Who else?

Getting players drafted early is a recruiting selling point, but it's not the only one.
