MBB 10th in AP, UM 5th

Setting up for another biggie. And btw, I'm starting to think it's just as well we didn't get Anthony. Not that there was ever much of a chance, but he's really streaky and shoots poor looks way too much. Sure, he may be an NBA great some day, but UO's mix of SG's and SF's seems to be coming along just fine. Against UVa yesterday he was 4/15 and 1/6 from 3 pt.

Is there any movement for UW players with the coaching change?

I'm assuming that since this was an internal change going from Peterson to Lake that it's like changing from Bellotti to Kelly and will not cause a lot of disturbance within the program. Still, I'm sure the coaches around the conference are ready to poach. It's weird that the Ducks and Huskies weren't battling for a whole lot of guys, but Smalls and Rosengarten would be absolute stunner flips if they could be flipped.

Any sense if there is much concern in Seattle?

NEGATIVE “NONSENSE”

This is the thread for all the NEGATIVE BS...
That so many seem to want to high jack the positive exciting threads with.

How about ALL the negative discussions about DUCK coaches, players, schools you think MIGHT want to steal Cristobal. ALL and any negative karma BS that you feel stimulated to post should go here...that way those of us DUCK fans trying to enjoy the ride of success & excitement can AVOID IT.
This way we don’t get tricked into opening a thread that should be fun & exciting only to read NEGATIVE NONSENSE!!

MBB Looked Pretty Good

And continuing to improve. Richardson and Patterson getting better fast and Pritchard off to his best start by far. I guess whether they have a chance to make a run will come down to improvement at the big guy spots and can Dante catch on in a month or two? Watching everything by tape til' it was a blow out. Ionescu's brother is on the team!

Brandon Buckner

Here is my bit from the Inside Reed tomorrow:

Brandon Buckner is an interesting case study in what Oregon wants to do as a defense. Cristobal has been very clear that he favors physicality and dominating the trenches.

Buckner is not as big as some of the other defenders that Oregon has recruited over the last tow or three cycles, but he has some really good quickness off of the edge – surprising quickness. The biggest question was size and what he was going to check in at. There are different reports of 6-1 and 6-3; when we saw him up close Saturday, he looked closer to 6-2, but there is more to the story than just a prospect from Chandler High School.

Buckner has a sister who plays volleyball at Oregon State and has been offered by the Beavers; current Beaver standout Hamilcar Rashed is a graduate of Chandler High School and Buckner is giving the Beavers serious consideration. Despite that consideration, he has also been open about the Ducks being very close so that he could visit his sister as often as he liked and that he really like Oregon as a program.

Another point to ponder as it relates to Buckner is his lineage. His father Brentson Buckner played at Clemson in the early 1990s as a 6-2, 310-pound defensive tackle. He ranks fourth on their all-time list in tackles for loss (46) and eighth in sacks (22) all-time. After a 12-year NFL career, the elder Buckner is now an assistant coach in the NFL.

On tape, Brandon shows good explosiveness and a nice ability to dip his shoulder to get around the edge; he has the ability to play a bit bigger and looks closer to about 240 right now. He has a lot of versatility which the staff loves and will evolve into a really good, physical player.

As for the visit, he loved every moment in Eugene and I would say that as of now, Oregon is on quack watch. Don’t let the three stars fool you; the staff really likes his potential.

As I was scorring through some photos Tom took Saturday I ran across this one:

Brandon's sister Nya is a volleyball player at OSU; she is listed at 5-11. He looked 6-1ish to 6-2 when we saw him and this pic seems to backup that claim. If so, then I think his offer is committable and the Ducks might be on quackwatch for him as well.
