James Crepea

Just wondering, it seems like there is some bad blood between Mario Cristobal and James Crepea and the Oregonian. There was I believe Mondays WSU presser where Mario said James is always asking for information to give away to the the other team and then the WSU post game James asked about turnovers and Mario said but you are harping on those turnovers. It just seems like something happened and wondered if anyone knows why?

Duck commit Brandon Buckner training with nation's No. 2 LS...

Everybody loves a good longsnapper story.

During the quarantine earlier this year, Pepper dedicated most of his down time to staying in shape.

Pepper said he ran hills with teammate Brandon Bucker and trained with Kentrell Williams and Williams’ father who is a fitness trainer.

“We trained almost every day,” Pepper said. “We couldn’t really do much else.”

For long snapping, Pepper was recruited by Arkansas, Nevada, Virginia and Texas. As a linebacker, Pepper received offers from several Division II schools.

“He’s an unreal football player,” Chandler head coach Rick Garretson said. “(As a linebacker) he brings this demeanor and this energy to the position and to our defense. Hank has this time clock in his head to really time blitzes. He’s definitely made a huge impact for us at the linebacker position this year.”

Rumored TRAAAAACK

According to a poster on Chile’s track board, Great Britain’s Benjamin Reynolds
has announced that he will be attending the UO. This comes as huge news... and a little bit of vindication for Duck fans.... because two days ago Washington received an NLI from Nathan Green. Green is the top ranked high school track athlete in the country. Ben Reynolds and Nathan Green run the same events, but Reynolds holds an edge on time comparisons. Reynolds has run a 1:54 800, and a 3:50 1500.
At this time European athletes have an advantage over US athletes because Europeans continued to compete during the Covid-19 summer... but some Americans competed as well. Green and Reynolds could make for good match ups.

COVID--ELIGIBILITY

Tacking onto Scott's comment about this being a lost season, I've been thinking about the athletes and their eligibility.

To wit...you get a kid that comes into the season thinking he's gonna play at least 7 games (PAC-12). Now, with the virus, he might play only 6 games...or 5 or who knows how many.

So, the athlete gets to play in 5 games, let's say, and he losses a whole season of eligibility.

Doesn't quite seem fair. Now, I realize that there is nothing fair about covid and that we are in unchartered waters.

However, it sure seems like there should be a way for these kids to "Covid Redshirt" or something.

No doubt that would screw up recruiting classes and whatnot, and other conferences who played a fuller slate would complain, but I feel for these kids who work their tails off only to see their season evaporate.

I wish I had an answer and not just an observation.

Additionally, I totally agree with Scott about this season.....while I want the Ducks to dominate, I'm looking at this year as a springboard for next year when we can...hopefully...have a real season.

Go Ducks!

OT: My sister needs your prayers...

I apologize for this it is so OT but it is dominating my mind right now and needed to unload. My sister's cancer has come back again for the third time and it has now spread to her lymph nodes and a couple organs. I am up in Seattle right now with her and her girls. She has basically been on chemo off and on the last two years and just started up again.

She could really use your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks my peeps.

WSU personnel: Offense strengths and weaknesses

This is based on which of their guys played well in their first game against Oregon State based on their PFF game grades.

Strengths

1. #4 QB Jayden De Laura graded out very well in their passing game. His bread and butter against the Beavers was underneath stuff where he was 12 for 17 on passes under 10 yards. They took two deep shots to the left side and completed both for TD's. Beavers blitzed him about a third of the snaps and

2. #72 RT Abraham Lucas played 66 snaps at RT and did not allow any quarterback hurries. Best run blocking grade for the game too.

3. #3 RB Deon McIntosh McIntosh beat up the hapless Beavers to the tune of 144 yards on 18 carries for a gaudy 8 yards per carry average.

4. #1 WR Travell Harris Harris almost always lined up on WSU's left side. Both the two deep shot TD's I mentioned above were to Harris. They also threw to him seven times on short routes and completed six of them.

5. #9 WR Renard Bell Cougars usually lined Bell up on the right side against the Beavers and primarily threw to him underneath stuff, under ten yards, where they were 5-7 targeting him.

My way too soon Pac 12 ratings

The teams have only played once and some haven't played at all , but this is my week 1 eyeball test of the teams I have seen

1) Oregon/WSU tie

2) ASU

3) USC

4) Stanford

5) Colorado

6) OSU

7) UCLA

These are the teams I saw. Regarding Oregon, what gives me hope is that I think Stanford is pretty good. Better than last season. How good is OSU and are they close to Stanford?
I'm not sure yet, but going off my eyeballs, this Saturdays Duck game could well be for the North Championship. I just think WSU has very good talent and very good coaching. Maybe Oregon will handle them on both sides of the line of scrimmage, but I'm not super confident about that. Scary game. If I had to bet it I would have to take the points
