Emily Fitzsimmons. She is in the previously posted photo with Grant Griffin. She’s out of Austin Texas …right in UT’s backyard. Her outdoor PR is 13’9”. I think that makes her currently #3 ranked girl’s pole vaulter in the recruiting class of ‘23

This Is in the event that Oregon has been their lest successful for the past decade…. I think that she is the first highly ranked women’s pole vaulter since the days of Duck Olympian Becky Holiday. Most years she would be the nation’s top ranked girl’s pole vaulter.

Another Perspective

So...like many people here, I want to see Thompson come in at QB...even if he is not really ready. Give us a chance to go downfield, maybe catch lightning in a bottle, and, at the very least, prepare him for next year.

Mario does not want to seem to budge...he doesn't want to bench the veterans. Must be pretty loyal to them, the reasoning goes.

Well...

Let's take a look at what may be Mario's position.

Mario is paid to win games. He is 5-1. Ugly? Yep. 5-1? Yep.

He and the coaches see these kids in practice every day and they know what they have. I find it hard to believe that they would not bench AB if they truly thought that Thompson would be better at winning now. Same at the tackle position.

Maybe it's time to realize that, at this point, AB and the tackles are the best that we have. This year...right now.

So if we were, like, 2-4 or something like that, then I could see some changes. But when you are 5-1 and control your own destiny in the league and you are the head coach, maybe MC is doing the right thing.

You dumb down the offense, you make lemonade outta lemons.

I remember not so long ago when we were bitching that MC should devise schemes to fit his players and not try to stick to his offense no matter what.

Well, maybe now he is doing just that. Maybe he has matured and is tailoring his offense to the players and abilities that he has. As vanilla as it may be. Can't throw deep? Do something else.

(I can tell you, in my opinion, except for TOSU, Joe has not had a chance to show off his offense. Not last year, not this year. The guy is the real deal and so is his offense. Just give him a QB and a line.)

Further, if you are 5-1 and you start benching guys so that the younger guys can get some experience, what does that say to the team? That the HC is willing to potentially throw the season away to hope for a better one next year? These players are working their butts off. They are in first place. They don't want to experiment with the starters just so next year might be better. They know who is the best at each position. I'm sure that they are feeling that they are really close to being a very good team. It would not be fair to the team to risk throwing the season away just so that a couple of guys can get ready for next year.

So, in this version of reality, maybe MS is doing exactly (more or less) what he should be doing given the circumstances (youth, injuries, talent or lack thereof, etc.).

Is Dante ever going to have the health to display his ability? why does the word "Odom" keep bouncing around in my head?

Ducks should feel disrespected by point spread

A top 10 team an underdog against an unranked opponent? I'm not saying I disagree with UCLA being favored. Here is the simple truth. The Ducks have played 6 games this season. They have played exactly one game at the level it will take to beat UCLA. If they play like they they did against the other 5 opponents, other that Ohio State, they will get run out of the Rosebowl. They have not been ready to play at the start of games 5 out of 6 times. That has to change.

I expect Chip to run all over the Ducks soft front 7 , but I won't be shocked if I am wrong. 1 ) The team should understand that UCLA is the best team they have faced except for Ohio State. I don't feel they have respected their other opponents. 2) Pac 12 Championship is on the line and Ducks are underdogs. MC usually has his team playing very physical in those situations. Ohio state this year and in the Pac 12 championship 2 years ago 3) Playing in L.A. Lots of kids from the area and they usually show up ready to play

This is the week we find out if the Ducks have just had a long Ohio State hangover, or just really aren't very good. No reason at all they should not be 100% ready to go

I'm not bashing our program, players, or coaches however, when I look at the body of work, number of injuries, strengths vs weaknesses, I see us finishing the season anywhere from 5-1 to 3-3. Yes, I'm certain there is at least another loss coming and honestly, I don't see us as a top 10 team or winning the PAC. Just one fan's opinion. What say the masses?

Keep the politics criticism out and stick to football re Rolovich.

We should be adult enough to participate in a thread without wandering from the football aspects. . It should (and probably will ) be shut down if we can't. The subject is important to Oregon's future schedule. Let's keep it there. I hope I'm right and Scott is mistaken about your ability to conduct this conversation within limitations.

Rolivich's absence is compounded by the loss of four of his assistants. I can't see a picture of the remaining staff being able to effectively game plan and pay attention to all of the details needed to improve team play and deal with the other demands of a head coach. It will probably also really impede recruiting. I'm wondering how many commits will flip because of this. Correctly offered, it will be VERY hard to interview and hire strong replacements for the staff at this time in the season. Could a hire even be made before the next two games are played and, even if so, how long would it take for a staff to be cohesive?

Maybe they can steal some from ASU. :)

Mention of Oregon assistant coaches moving over seems laughable unless one of them is up for OC or DC. I haven't seen which assistants are gone so don't know if either of those spots is open in Cougville. Why would someone on the Ducks' staff want to leave a team on the cusp of being in a national championship game want to go to a program fighting to become relevant in a conference championship? After the season is over some will have a offers to move elsewhere, as will be routine, but now? to WSU?

QuAAAck!

“I’m choosing Oregon because of the environment and coaches,” he said. “I like the college-town feel and the family feel on the football team.”
