Cristobal post game quotes

OPENING STATEMENT

CRISTOBAL: Really proud of our guys. Really physical play in the trenches on both sides of the ball. I’m proud of the way our guys came out and showed our prowess in handling inclement weather and continuing to play hard throughout the entire game. In every critical situation it seems like our team responded to adversity pretty well and then took momentum of the game after a rough start. We threw an interception, had a safety and found ourselves playing from behind, but once we took the lead it felt like we started gaining more and more momentum. Just really proud of our guys, our coaches, our players. We played through a lot of injuries. Ryan Walk got hurt as well, a guy who is one of the hearts and souls of our team. Coming up here to play one of our rivals and coming out with a victory in that sort of fashion - rushing for 329 yards - just a really positive day.

Q. How defining of a performance was tonight for Travis Dye?

CRISTOBAL: He gets better and better all the time. He’s a game-changer and he changed it in a lot of different ways. He got banged up last week, and you would have never noticed in the way he practiced all week and the way he played tonight. Tremendous leadership skills and ability to make big plays in the most critical situations. And again Travis is just scratching the surface of what he can be.

Q. On the defensive effort, especially early in the game…

CRISTOBAL: Outstanding, I mean held them for the entire game to less than 170 yards, I believe. Without a doubt we were having a tough time finding our way on offense early. It was raining sideways just about. The passing game - we had to be smart. We had to limit what we were doing and it felt like it was a three-and-out, four or five plays and out just consistently [for the defense]. It’s not just that, it’s the way they were doing it. It’s the physicality. You could hear it. It just sounded different from the sideline, the way the front seven was playing and how much our defensive backs were smothering their wide receivers as well. Great defensive performance. I know we gave up that long drive we would like to have back, but certainly all in all just really proud of the way those guys played tonight.

Predict-a-score: Oregon at Washington

I don't want to step on Graveducks' toes here but it's time for our weekly prediction thread.

I'm picking the Ducks and it's not because the Huskies are terrible. They are probably even a better than average team. I think they present some match up problems with their offense, but if the DL shows up that would solve that.

The offense has a chance to be good. They have figured out a way for AB to succeed and it seems to be working.

Oregon 33 - Washington 23

Expert predict-a-score: Oregon at Washington

I will compile our three "expert" predictions here. All crystal balls point to a Duck win.

A.J.

Oregon will face a decent Washington defense when they kick off in Montlake on Saturday. The Huskies are giving up about 19 points per game on their way to a 4-4 record. The Ducks have averaged 36 points per game so something has to give. The way Oregon’s offense has been improving lately, what gives will be the Husky defense. Oregon will score 33 points.

Defensively the Ducks are as healthy as they are going to get this season and face a pedestrian Washington offense that only averages 23 points per game, the same as Oregon has been allowing. No reason to think the Huskies won’t score 23.

Assuming turnovers will be even, the final score will be:

Oregon 33 – Washington 23

Nicho Iamaleava, 2023 QB

I have to agree with Duck Territory, as I got excited over the similarity of this QB PSA to Marcus Mariota. Also he is a legacy recruit as his uncle played for Oregon. From the article he is a lock if offered. I must admit I wasn't that excited about our AL QB Commit but he's a 22 guy. Nicholas is a 23 commit and has a couple years to put on some weight. His current weight list him at 195, but the ability to run and 6'5" got my attention. Unfortunately rivals doesn't have him in the data base, or I'd post it. Request for A. J., Scott, et al, can we get an interview soon? He's from Downey, CA., and loves the ducks.

Oregon at Washington: 4:30pm ABC

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon football’s game at Washington next Saturday, Nov. 6, will kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT on ABC, the Pac-12 office announced on Saturday night.

The No. 7 Ducks improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play on Saturday with a dominant 52-29 win over Colorado in Autzen Stadium.

This will be the second 4:30 p.m. start of the season for the Ducks, who will be broadcast on ABC for the third time in five weeks.

Note on Kelvin Banks..

The five-star offensive tackle from Houston (Texas) Summer Creek has confirmed he will be at Texas A&M this weekend but also wanted to make it clear he's sticking with his commitment to Oregon. Both points are interesting: He's taking a visit to one of his other finalists that is still trying to flip him but remains firm in his pledge for now.

"Yes sir (will be at Texas A&M). Still locked in with the Ducks though."
