Conference recruiting woes

A look at the the current class ranking is scary for PAC?? members' fans. Albeit early, having a big gap between the Ducks and the second highest ranked Arizona is not what we want to see. If there is anything good to see in the listing, it is that USC and UCLA are quite a bit behind the Wildcats. For the conference to succeed we need to see better things.

It is nicer to see that none of the six teams ahead or Oregon have fewer current commits than the 11 the Ducks have so far, meaning there is a little slack to pull in

Tomorrow's recruiting notes

RECRUITING NOTES:

  • As I mentioned last night, I expect Dillon Gresham to pick Oregon on Monday. Gresham has all of the tools to be something special at the next level as he showcases impressive athleticism, agility, and great hands. His route running is precise, as he consistently creates separation from defenders and demonstrates excellent body control while making difficult catches. Gresham possesses outstanding speed, enabling him to stretch the field and be a deep threat. He shows a knack for finding open spaces in the defense and has the ability to make plays after the catch, displaying elusiveness and a burst of acceleration.

  • I also expect a Double quack Saturday. I really feel like Oregon has been trending for both Michael van Buren and Xadavien Sims over the last few weeks.

The biggest question is how much of a push Oklahoma makes and can they get him to make a Sooner commitment. Right now even my Sooner insiders feel like this one has turned in Oregon’s favor – so much so that there are already the ‘we didn’t want him anyway’ comments coming from their message boards. Sooner insiders have told me that they think he is Oregon as well.

  • Oregon has made the final five for tight end Ryner Swanson who will be making an official visit next soon. The Ducks are in a solid position and will continue to be so. There is a chance he takes a religious mission prior to his first season, so let’s see how the rest of his recruitment plays out.

  • We don’t get much stuff on basketball, but Vyctorius Miller, the illustrious 4-star shooting guard and the nation's No. 31 overall player according to Rivals.com, is currently gracing the campus of the University of Oregon for an official visit with the Ducks. The basketball world eagerly anticipates his decision as he explores his collegiate options.

What makes this visit all the more intriguing is Miller's connection with Mookie Cook, a highly sought-after 5-star prospect and incoming freshman at Oregon. These two exceptional talents were once teammates at Compass Prep High School in Arizona, forging a formidable partnership on the court. Their potential reunion in Eugene adds an extra layer of excitement to this visit.

While Miller's physical attributes as a "big guard" have long been recognized, it is his dynamic skill set that truly sets him apart. Blessed with size, length, and exceptional ball-handling ability, he effortlessly orchestrates plays, both for himself and his teammates. His passing prowess is particularly noteworthy, leaving defenders scrambling to anticipate his next move.

Amidst his visit to Oregon, Miller remains deeply rooted in his home state of Arizona, where he continues to dominate the prep basketball scene. His commitment and dedication to honing his craft are evident, as he consistently proves himself a standout player.

Oregon fans will have a couple big announcements to pay attention to Saturday when key targets Xadavien Sims and Michael Van Buren announce their commitments. Sims announced his plans earlier in the week while simultaneously announcing a top group of Oregon, Vanderbilt, TCU, Michigan State and Oklahoma. Meanwhile, Van Buren previously released a top 3 of Oregon, Penn State and Maryland. Tonight he's announced he will now come to a decision Saturday as well.

So, it could be a big day for the Ducks. Van Buren is trending to Oregon in a big way leading into the four-star quarterback's announcement while the program has also made strides with Sims, a Rivals100 defensive lineman from Oklahoma. Oregon holds 100% of the Rivals FutureCast picks for Van Buren while Oklahoma leads for Sims, though only one selection has been logged so far.

Colorado DB transfer Nikko Reed trending toward Oregon

Three-star transfer (No. 377 - Rivals) Nikko Reed, as Scott wrote about today, is trending toward the Ducks and now you have this tweet from Demetrice Martin (above). Could it be that the Ducks add another transfer before the day is over? Reed and Martin worked together at Colorado before the latter made the move to Eugene to join Dan Lanning's staff. That CU-to-Oregon combination has already worked once with Christian Gonzalez following Martin last year to go on and become a first-round draft pick.

Flock Talk: Vampire Money

Yes, another musical reference; easier for some, not so much for others. Very easily googled.

Talking about TV stuff today with a couple of recruiting notes at the end.

PAC 12 Track and Field Championship Time

The PAC 12 Track and Field Championships will take place this weekend. For 15 straight seasons the Oregon men have won the conference team Title. That streak will end this weekend. However, the good news is that Oregon’s 100m prodigy, Micah William will be competing. It won’t be a cake walk for him to win.

The sprint talent is formidable this year. For the Oregon men the big excitement should be the 100m and the 4x100 relay. Here’s to hoping that the Ducks take home bragging rites
in the short sprints…. Go Micah!

The big show will be the team battle between the USC and Oregon women for the PAC 12 team title. Chile’s form chart has the Trojan women winning by a slim margin. However, Chile would be the first to tell you that form charts are just a measuring stick for scoring how things are going. Form charts are not a forecast.

By now we all know that Shana Grebo will be back in an Oregon singlet. It is hard to know how the coaches will use her. We know that she’ll run the 400 hurdles. She is capable of contributing big time in the 4x400, 400, and the 200. It is hard to imagine Shana entering that many events. I’m sure that she will be in the 400h and the 4x400. After that, it is hard to say if she’ll enter another event. Trust me, she’ll have her hands full. There is a lot of quality competition standing in Shana’s way. In a recent interview she sounded confident and enthusiastic. This will be interesting!

The match up between the USC and Oregon women promises to be a great matchup. It will hurt to see the men’s streak end, but a PAC 12 women’s team Championship would help to ease the pain.

A Note About Sunday Pac 12 T&F finals

The men are doing what they can to finish in a respectable position

The women are pulling off jaw dropping performances. You could hear our fans in Walnut CA cheer enthusiastically as our Lady Ducks battled tooth and nail to stay in the team competition. They are succeeding!

The word among the track prognosticators is that the women’s team championship is now a two horse race between the favored Trojans and the underdog Ducks. It will all come down to tomorrow’s finals.

USC has some great track athletes, but so
does Oregon. This could come down to where Oregon places in the 4x400. For any of you who don’t know, that is always the last event.

Our women exude tremendous heart. They will scrap until the end….. get the popcorn ready. Damn I love this team.

He has yet to make any appearances in college and he will have four seasons to play the remainder of his career.

Need advice

Have cut the cable TV cord. All I ever watched was Duck football and track meets when they were TV'd. Comcast was charging me 175 a month for almost no service.

Question, what are my options for watching Duck football this fall?

I know that any games on Fox or one of the major networks will come in on my new antennas, but those may be few and far between.

TIA
