Four-star TE Ryner Swanson recaps his weekend official visit

Four-star tight end Ryner Swanson was one of the official visitors over the weekend for the Ducks. He previously took an official visit to Texas and he is heading out to Provo today to begin an official visit with BYU. After that he will settle in and come to a commitment decision. Oregon previously hosted him on an unofficial visit but still managed to leave him impressed this time around. He had a conversation with his player host Casey Rogers that has Swanson thinking strongly about the Ducks, and Oregon remains right in the conversation with the California-based recruit.

"I just gotta be able to take that leap of faith and trust that Oregon could be the best for me even though BYU is really easy. ... Casey Rogers helped me realize that the best decisions he's ever made, they were the hardest at first. Oregon, if I do commit, that'll be hard for me because I'm saying no to the easier life at BYU with a ton of friends and just a great LDS community. So I just have to be really prayerful about this, and I know that I'll make the right decision."

Swanson is a member of the LDS Church and plans on going on a mission after high school, so his enrollment will be delayed. However, he says Oregon is investing fully into that plan, and he certainly feels a connection to Dan Lanning and the staff.

He will make his choice before the end of the month, and it could come very soon after his BYU trip comes to a close.

California receiver Jack Ressler has announced his commitment to Oregon over a final group that included Penn State, Oregon State, Arizona State and Boise State. Eventually, it came down to the Broncos and Ducks, but his comfort level in Eugene won out along with his desire to play on a big stage.

"The atmosphere is just amazing. Obviously, the hospitality with coach Dan Lanning and coach Junior Adams, and really the whole staff to be honest, is just very great. Very warming for me."

He's the fourth receiver to commit to Oregon in the class and the third from Southern California for 2024.
