Back from the bed ...

Had my knee replacment on Feb 26. Went to "sleep" somewhere around 7:00 Am and woke up a few minutes after 1:00 PM with my toes pointing the right direction. Worst part was the large bruise on my lower leg from them having to force it around duing the procedure. I can hobble around with one crutch now and we'll see how long I can sit up straight on the computer. Pretty positve I'll have a full recovery and a lot less knee pain as long as I keep up with the program. Biggest problem is when I walk past the fridge, the magnets all jump off at me.

Women Indoor Track Team Makes Podium

In the 60h finals , Oregon star Aaliyah McCormack tripped going over the hurdle… she stumbled and fell as she crossed the finish line. So much went wrong in this meet, but amazingly the women finished in forth and are bringing home a team trophy.

For those that don’t know, the top four teams win trophies. Now my concern is if Aaliyah is injured. The NCAA outdoor Championships will be at Hayward Field. The women have a shot at doing very well, but they can ill afford going into the outdoor championships without two of their best athletes, Alysah Hickey and Aaliyah McCormack… ironically both are from San Diego and are former California State high school champions. I will add that both have a great attitude that is contagious with the other athletes.unfortunately Alasah couldn’t compete due to an ankle injury and Aaliyah tripped going over the last hurdle in the 60h.

When one considers the mishaps, making the podium was a moral victory for a bunch of women who compete with a lot of heart.

SABAN SPEAKS

sorry if this has been posted...

Saban:

"I want to be clear that wasn't the reason, but some of those events certainly contributed," Saban told ESPN. "I was really disappointed in the way that the players acted after the game. You gotta win with class. You gotta lose with class. We had our opportunities to win the game and we didn't do it, and then showing your ass and being frustrated and throwing helmets and doing that stuff ... that's not who we are and what we've promoted in our program."

"I thought we could have a hell of a team next year, and then maybe 70 or 80 percent of the players you talk to, all they want to know is two things: What assurances do I have that I'm going to play because they're thinking about transferring, and how much are you going to pay me?" Saban recounted. "Our program here was always built on how much value can we create for your future and your personal development, academic success in graduating and developing an NFL career on the field.

"So I'm saying to myself, 'Maybe this doesn't work anymore, that the goals and aspirations are just different and that it's all about how much money can I make as a college player?' I'm not saying that's bad. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying that's never been what we were all about, and it's not why we had success through the years."

Saban said he also struggled with coaching churn and the need to almost constantly replace assistants. Meetings with prospective coaches became difficult as he couldn't accurately promise that he would be around the program beyond a handful of seasons.

Nick Saban reveals late factors in retirement from Alabama, wonders if process there 'doesn't work anymore'

Former Alabama coach Nick Saban knew a while ago that his time with the program was coming to an end. The 72-year-old Crimson Tide legend confirmed in a recent interview with ESPN that he began contemplating retirement shortly after the 2022 season and told athletic director Greg Byrne that he felt his coaching career was nearing an end.

Some info on Akili Smith Jr.

I was wondering how Jr. was progessing as it seems there isn't much discussion about him on this page. FYI he was just upgraded to the No. 1 Dual Threat QB by ESPN recently, I've seen a lot of discussion about other QBs and it does seem that the QB room is loaded, as it seems another QB (Longstreet) is looking at Oregon as well. With Adams, the QB fm San Anotoniom another from AZ, the walk on from Sheldon, as well as Jr. you'd think the 25 class wouldn't be looking for another QB.

Most intriguing Offensive position battles this spring?

Toay in the War Room I start an early look ast Spring camp and thought about some offensive position battles I had two that intrigued me the most (these are excerpts with more detailed toughts in the article):

For my money the biggest question is going to be the interior offensive line. Oregon lost two starters from the interior (Jackson Powers-Johnson and Steven Jones) and, though they have plenty of talent returning, seem likely to have some question marks.

I am also intrigued to see how the running back rotation shakes out. Based on everything I have heard, Noah Whittington is progressing very well in his recovery, but I would be surprised if they allowed him to go full contact at practice during the spring because, truthfully, there is just no reason to throw any additional risk at him for spring ball. That leaves Jordan James as the clear starter during spring ball. We already know what he can do so for him it will be about getting better at those areas Dan Lanning and Carlos Locklyn have set as priorities.

That leaves the questions at the backups.
