New offer out...

This one to Tennessee ATH JaCoby Stevens. I hear the Ducks have not discussed position with him but Coach Lubick is the one in contact. The Ducks probably like him at WR but DB could be possible for him as well. He will be a Rivals100 guy I believe.

Do the Ducks have a shot with him? Yes as much as anybody right now. He likes the program a lot and knows and has played against Ugo Amadi and Dillon Mitchell.

Women #1, Men #2 in new national T&F rankings

Raevyn Rogers's 2nd ever fastest collegiate indoor 800m at the Millrose led to the Oregon women to jump to #1 in the computer rankings. And Cheserek and Haney's Millrose performances led to a jump of 4 places to #2 for the men.

If you look at my form chart tracker using the current qualifying marks, it's the Oregon men at #1, and the Oregon women at #2.

Both project Ches running the mIle, 3000m and 5000m, so we will see if he actually attempts the triple. (not to mention a possible 4th event... the DMR).

Can Oregon's DMR Qualify for NCAAs ?

The top 12 qualify. Ducks are 13th. They have to move up this weekend to make it to the Dance. It's an event in which UO has been a force historically.

Report Card: QB...

I rethought how to present the pre-spring grades and have settled on a "State of the Position" type of feature. So I took a look at the 2015 season, 2016 recruiting and 2016 outlook and made them into a "Report Card".

I will be doing these for all the positions leading into spring. Let me know if you like the format or would like to see tweaks and I will make adjustments for my pre-Fall version.

Duck and Duck Alumni Excel in NYC

Three UO track athletes went to the prestigious Mlilrose Games and performed outstandingly!
The King's sixth place finish in 7:40.41 is the second fastest indoor 3k in NCAA history.
Raevyn Rogers finished 4th in the 800 with a time of 2:00.90, missing an NCAA record by only 0.15 seconds!
Sophomore Blake Haney set a new Millrose collegiate record in the mile with 3:56.76.
Future Duck, Andrew Hunter broke his previous indoor mile high school record by going 3:57.81!!!

However, it was the alumni that stole the show. Centrowitz won the Wannamaker Mile in 3:50.57.
"Fabulous Phyllis" Francis soared her way to a 2nd place finish in the 400. Ashton Eaton took 2nd in the 60 hurdle. Eric Jenkins beat his old team mate King Cheserek by finishing 3rd in the 3k. Former Bowerman Trophy winner Laura Roesler looked outstanding in her 3rd place finish in the 800. Another Bowerman winner, Jenna Prandini took 3rd in the 60m dash.

This is a huge year, culminating with an all expense trip to Rio this summer....and things just keep looking better and better all the time. Enjoy the ride!

Possible strengths of a 4-3 defense:

A retired defensive coach with 4-3 experience explains some of the evolution of the 4-3 and some of the basic advantages a 4-3 might hold in store for those looking for a more simple attacking and aggressive philosophy. Fortunately the coach is an ardent Oregon fan and once we again take the field he will be able to point out the particulars of what we can hope will become known as the “Oregon 4-3”.
