2017 3-Star CB Nick Pickett Talks Oregon Offer...

Spoke with 2017 three-star Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian cornerback Nick Pickett tonight after landing his offer from Oregon. Pickett said he felt like it was coming and despite his comments June, that an Oregon offer would be an instant commitment, he still wants to take an official visit before making a commitment.

Pickett said the offer is "extremely big" while responding to the instant commitment comments with a rather unexpected answer: "My official would determine whether my commitment to them stands. Not yet [set an OV] still getting that set."

Official visit next weekend for Rivals250 WR

Talking with the head coach of four-star Springfield, Ohio WR Danny Davis this afternoon, he tells me Danny has scheduled his first official visit of the process and it will go to Oregon this upcoming weekend, Oct. 28. Davis has taken his time thus far in the recruiting process. He made unofficial visits already this season to Wisconsin and Penn State, which are two schools likely to get him back in for official visits. He also is likely to take an official visit to Kentucky. A decision is not expected until late in the process. I may have more with Danny tomorrow, and will post a story if I am able to get him on the phone.

The "MICROWAVE" generation & society we live in...

Mostly cracks me up but sometimes becomes appalling...

Many on here wanted NA gone, he retired and look at what ya got....

Everybody on this site has ZERO at risk if your opinions don't work out! You have ZERO liability or consequences to pay. You have the ability to just say & have in the past said..."well he wasn't MY choice" and convince yourself you are ALL-knowing.

Just like @ Texas...they got a BIG NAME HOT LIST coach to replace Mack and now they will be firing him. Many in Texas are claiming they didn't want Charlie and they "KNEW ALL ALONG" that he wasn't the right guy! LMAO....

The microwave society not only wanted Dana gone 3 years ago but some were calling for Mullins to be fired too. Now it's MH and Mullins....

Stanford, Texas, TCU, MSU, ND, UCLA, Miss St, ASU, and others are all programs with far more talent this year & were ranked higher than the DUCKS...they are all barn fires!

Hell let's fire all the coaches and AD's of these programs...so we as "fans" can get immediate gratification to make us feel better.

The DUCK football program is certainly in need of changes and I'm positive changes will happen. Does that include firing everybody that has anything to do with DUCK football, I have no idea...but I certainly hope not.

I believe patience is really needed and valuable right now...there are bright spots with the green peas and the offense is still scoring well under all the adverse conditions. The D talent and coaching certainly needs an IMMEDIATE upgrade...but the only thing I will GUARANTEE anyone, is that there is "NO GUARANTEE" that anyone can pick a coach or coaching staff that is a 100% certainty of winning immediately, let alone CHAMPIONSHIPS!

I truly believe MH will & should get another year before decisions of firing occur. I believe there will be changes on the D side of the ball and improvements made in both recruiting and player development.

We have lost 3 games on 3 passes by 3 points...
Colo and Nebraska are clearly decent football teams and WA may be a play-off team. And God forbid they win the Natty....
For this DUCK fan, I'll have a little more patience and maturity than most.

It's Management, Stupid

The season train wreck of Oregon Football rests exactly on the well funded shoulders of those who should know better than the blog's fanatics. But how this debacle was permitted to occur two years after the NC is entirely the fault of the AD and those who select our coaches.

Damn. After the investment of millions to erect a monument of foot ball excess, how has it come to pass that two years after the NC we're the dog of the conference.?

I've said it before and again, our AD and his staff are incrementalists and wholly parochial in coaching selection. We spend like elites and pick coaches like dainty do goods.

I don't put this decline on Helfrich more than those who just don't seem to get what it takes to be elite, aside from lookin' good.

WHERE IS ROB MULLINS?

Where is Rob Mullins? This Oregon Football Program "TRAIN WREAK", is not Uncle
Phil's problem to solve. Mr. Mullins, please step up and provide the leadership your
job description requires. This is not a fire MH request, but a call for real leadership not
some blind pretense of patience, loyalty and happy talk. The Program is on Fire!
The Oregon Brand in burning. Please wake up and do something before it is too late.

Three plays away from 5-2

This is how I'm looking at this season: it's a rebuilding year. We're young. Against Cal, we started zero (!!!) seniors on D, and only two on O.

I'm looking for effort and gradual improvement, particularly on defense.

DL: Our DT's continued to get reached by zone blocking, but we also saw some good things. Manu and Maloata made plays. Youngsters like Baker and Kirby flashed potential. Out DE's didn't always help out in the run game (getting too far up field on run plays or being fooled by Cal's wrinkle in the run game--the zone read), but Jelks showed again he's a budding playmaker and Mondoux and Daniel showed some physicality on a few plays.

LBs: Many of you will remember Joe Walker's play in his first year at Oregon. It was bad, as he missed tackle after tackle. Several DSA members ridiculed him in post after post. By his senior year he was a very good backer and this year he was on his way to making the Eagle's two-deep if not for a knee injury. I see the same sort of potential with some of our current LBs, Hotchkins, Moi, and Swain, in particular (I have no idea what is going on with Mattingly). Unfortunately, they are not there yet and we're relying on two undersized walk-ons. While I have some sympathy for our LBs because the DL isn't always doing their job, the LB's could do more to force OL off of double teams (which would help the DL) and when the LBs are in the right spot, they need to make plays. Once the more physically talented guys get up to speed (which probably won't be in 2016), this could be a solid unit.

DBs: Ugo Amadi showed flashes last night and Lovette seemed to be in better position. Right now, the biggest disappointment is Springs, who missed several tackles in space, blew a coverage on a fake bubble screen, and got beat on a fade. It's critical as our most veteran CB that he becomes a leader and steps up his play. I was encouraged by the play of our safeties. Schooler is becoming a sure tackler. Multiple times he prevented 15-20 yard gains from becoming TDs. Oliver is doing a much better job playing with leverage against passes to the flat and against the run game.

There isn't any quit in these Ducks despite failing to reach the program's soaring expectations and the negativity in the fan base. The effort was there. We saw flashes of potential. We should keep this in mind, too: this young team is three plays away from being 5-2.

I now surrender myself to DSA's firing squad (pun intended).

I so hate our injury policy and other thoughts.

I understand to an extent not letting the whole world know what's going on but man....what is up with Royce? And where was Benoit? Did I miss something injury wise there?

Royce has basically zero burst and just does not look like himself in any fashion out there. The rumor mentioned last night that he may be one of the guys not giving 100% is dis heartening to even think about but watching him surely makes you wonder (still hard to believe). I would have to guess his leg is far from 100% explaining what we are seeing. So...that basically left James and Griffin leaving us with zero size...that being said I love me some James! If that is what we have going forward please game plan accordingly. 30-40 running plays between the tackles just doesn't sound real logical.

I loved the 2nd half effort....some emotion and even a few creative play calls (2 normal screens, TE over the middle at 10 - 12 yards) and guess what they worked. Is it a coincidence that a few new faces replaced a couple normal guys and we gained said emotion and effort?? A couple of the new guys looked pretty good (Baker and Apelu come to mind)

And of course...I am excited for the future of Herbert. He is going to be a very good one and I felt bad for him on that last play as he did have a TD with a good throw. It was encouraging seeing the team supporting him afterwards.

I will leave coaching changes to another day as that conversation has been beat to death but still believe Helfrich will be gone if we don't win any more games or even one or two.

Hard to believe we are at this point after being in the natty two years ago but we are so dealing with it properly is key moving forward. I say that mostly team wise but it is something us fans need to adjust to also. Some of us are struggling to say the least....LOL.

In the end it's still....GO DUCKS!
