Flock Talk: Origins

Good day all, I took today off from work so I could just have a free day. Worked on Flock Talk last night and wound in some of the coaching uncertainty.

The name Derek Mason was brought up last week so I wove him into the narration some, but he will be a tough get - expect him to be a tough commodity as a DC. Some inside the Vanderbilt program feel he may bolt even if he is not fired because Vandy just is not invested in football the way Mason expected.

They expected him to be a candidate for the Florida DC position if Geoff Collins leaves for a HC position (Collins thinks he is ready, others do not think he is ready). But the thing is, Charlie Strong is very likely to be very high on Florida's DC list should it be needed and there will be plenty of suitors there as well.

It is WAY too early to start getting much detail, but there is a strong possibility that Brady Hoke and at least two of the defensive staff are gone. And I know that some think 'if Hoke is gone so too is Helfrich' but that is not entirely true. There is a chance that Helfrich gets the chance to fix this thing with one more chance on the defensive side of the ball.

Time will tell.

I will be out and about in Portland for the rest of the day, but will check in from time to time.

Enjoy your day all, and take a gander at Flock Talk - I used some quotes from Prefontaine and Socrates. Just for fun!

Belotti and Alliotti Rumors

Both said they would return to Oregon but only if they could coach with each other. Belotti could hold the fort and rekindle the program while Knight searches. As far as Chip is concerned, doesn't he need to stay out of college football for a couple more years as part of the NCAA sanctions?? If so, Belotti and Alliotti could be the bridge to Chip's return. I have no doubt Greatwood, Campbell, Neal and Pellum would want to stay if Mullins worked that out. Questions about Lubick. Would he stick around if Helfrich is bought out? I think Hoke would also be relieved.
