Some thoughts on Taggart...

I don't like to be the sour grapes guy. So when WT was hired I never passed along some of the comments from my counterpart at USF. In fact, I thought it was sour grapes on his part and that is why I didn't report it.

But, he gave me a run down of the good and the bad about WT. The good was simply he could recruit the area.

The bad list was longer.
  • He said that Taggart was an unproven X and O coach, something we saw in spades this last year. FSU will find this out soon enough.
  • Taggart was very selfish and wanted the limelight for himself, but not for his assistants. He liked to take credit for all the great recruiting even when it was the assistants who were doing all the work. Taggart made himself available for interviews basically every day that was open to reporters. The assistants were available just once per week here, and never after games.
  • Taggart had no loyalty except to himself. Well...
So like in all things, the good comes with the bad. For my part, I am ecstatic to have Cristobal as the new HC and I feel in the long run, will be much better for the program.

I am very much looking forward to covering this football team next year. I predict big things for the program.

LMJ/Kenjon interview

If you have some time to listen, a podcast with LMJ, Kenjon and Fentress and Jaynes. It is quite interesting. I unfortunately cannot link it, but if you have Twitter and search on Fentress the link is there. .

LMJ refernces the fact that Gary Campbell has been living with him and both comment on the firing of the former staff. Kenjon is asked about what he thinks happened with Chip in Philly and clearly avoids answering and LMJ has some interesting comments about Chip.

Joshua Moore

Was supposed to visit FSU this weekend but did not show. A couple of thoughts:

- I know fans would love to read into this, but this was not a. "eff you" to Taggart... It was more the reality that he is unlikely to end up there

- Don't read too much into it from an Oregon perspective, most inside sources I speak with still say Texas is the team to beat here.

- Moore is scheduled to visit next weekend; his long association with Donte Williams gives Oregon the best chance to steal the Yoakum athlete

- Pay close attention to whether he shows up next weekend

- Texas will not pull his offer if he visits, a bit if false news by some FSU fans who cannot believe anyone would no show a visit there.

QuAAAAck Watch: Crocker... (6PM now)

We are hearing from Isaah Crocker that he will be announcing his college choice today, most likely this evening following a Cristobal in-home visit. Earlier he was thinking of announcing at noon.

What we know: Crocker visited this last weekend and spent a great deal of time with fellow WR target Devon Williams. From all reports the trip was a big hit with Crocker, and the Ducks reaffirmed their offer to him early on during his OV.

Announcement: On Saturday he tweeted out his intention to announce on Monday. This was on day two of his official visit to Eugene.

Other finalists: The final two teams standing were Oregon and Oregon State. Earlier in his recruitment Nebraska and UCLA were both heavily involved.

DSA's Call: We like Oregon's chances very much for this Rivals250 WR.

OJOMO

I don't remember this guy.

Any insight?

Thanks.

College football recruiting: New stars take center stage down the homestretch
In the final weeks of the 2018 recruiting cycle, there are new names emerging as high priority targets

2. Three-star DT Moro Ojomo
Contenders: Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M

Where'd he come from: A late developer, Ojomo was good as a junior but he earned Defensive MVP honors for his district as a senior, taking his game to a different level. He won't turn 18 until after he hits a college campus so for a very athletic and physically gifted defensive lineman, he's still very much on the early end of his development.

Buzz: Ojomo's rapid rise began in part with a Texas offer in early December. Since then, Tennessee, Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Miami have all followed. He had a good official visit with Texas last weekend with TCU, Oregon and Texas A&M all jostling to get him on campus before signing day. Oklahoma may be Texas' biggest threat, but the Longhorns appear to be holding the lead.
