Duck Football Speed in MPH

Sorry to start a new thread ...my bad. Is there anyway we can get Daewood to run track?
Brooks James and Davis are very close....so close that there might be a different winner on a given day. One thing to keep in mind is that speed is more than just one's top end. It is also how quickly one can get to that top end, and then how long can they hold it. If you only hold it for a second, that is not the same as someone who can hold it for two seconds etc.

Miles Battle - Small tidbit

- It would appear that Battle has not informed either coaching staff regarding his intent - hence the reason that no offer has been extended to JJ Tucker.

- I was told that Tucker would commit on the spot of offered. The fact that the staff feels confident enough in getting two of: Williams, Battle, Ezeike and Harrison should at least quell some concerns as we head toward Wednesday.

Pre Signing Day Thoughts

This is the time of year when nerves of recruitniks get frayed; confidence gets shattered and there is plenty of sleep lost by just about everyone who covers recruiting.

In the last five years, the game has really changed from a coverage standpoint. The proliferation of elite camps, satellite camps, all-star games, and 7-on-7 leagues has made recruiting coverage a year-round gig.

In the last two months alone, we have had coverage from San Antonio and Hawaii as well as a December signing day; now we get a second signing day. This is a ship that is on permanent cruise mode and there is really no way to stop it.

As was evidenced by the flurry of offers last week to 2019 – and beyond – prospects, there will be little to no rest for the wicked. I am already lining up interviews and hoping to establish new sources for 2019 information because that is what we have to do.

For me, the way I approached it this season was the trip to cover the Polynesian Bowl was my ‘vacation’ from recruiting coverage. I don’t really have much planned between now and the summer except a brief excursion to Myrtle Beach next month for my anniversary. Outside of that, I am working on getting as many things lined up for 2019 as possible.

This industry has seen a massive change in the last few years and there are sure to be more changes on the horizon; it is just the nature of the beast. As always, I will adapt as much as possible to those coming days!

One thing many of you probably know is that I moved to South Carolina. The only thing that this move hinders when it comes to recruiting coverage is some sleep; but I have been surviving on 5 or less hours of sleep for over 30 years, so that’s not really a big issue for me. An area I think it really helps? I will be able to get a lot more information about some different recruits down here. We are finally settled in after having to do a bunch of work around the house when we got here. It was early December, we needed a fence, a deck, a dog door and we had to furnish most of the house from scratch. After that it was Christmas and New Year; then the Polynesian Bowl – so we had to travel. Finally, though, it looks like I will have even more time to invest in coverage.

AJ and Brandon are working hard to bring us the best site around. Brandon has been especially important to us in helping expand our social media presence. We strive to bring you the best coverage we can and will continue to build on those efforts. Really, though, this is still about our customers – you the readers. We want to be sure to provide a place where people can come and enjoy recruiting, football, conversation or some mixture thereof. What many don’t know is that we have a lot of people who come here simply to read our stories and never (or rarely) comment on the message boards. So when you see a story that seems to contain a lot of the same information as on the message boards; there is a method to that madness.

This is my thank you to the readers of this site. I know there may be some little ‘disputes’ on the forums, but it is still a great place to talk Oregon football and recruiting. I have taken my vacation until the summer, so you get to see more of my face now!

Okay, now back to work!

Super Bowl thread...

I don't have a dog in this fight so I will watch and root for former Ducks.

New England Patriots

Pat Chung - 34th overall pick of the 2009 draft. Starting safety is second on the team with 84 regular season tackles.

Philadelphia Eagles

Kenjon Barner - Starting punt returner averaging 8.9 yards/return.
LaGarrette Blount - Starting RB. Won two super bowl rings with the Patriots. Led team with 766 yards but has been relatively ineffective so far in the playoffs.
Joe Walker - IR for the game. 10 tackles during the regular season.

Weekend visit update...

Very light visit weekend for the Ducks as it turns out. This is not surprising since they are only going to get four or five more commits, and the guys expected to do so have already been on theirs.

We are hearing two guys are on campus now, with one to join them tonight or tomorrow. The two to make it were Moro Ojomo and Dawson Jaramillo. Joining them will be JC WR JJ Tucker. We'll have to verify dates and times with Tucker. Last week he told us February 4th but since that is Sunday (which is an odd day to start an OV) we'll double check.

No Go

Two prospects that did not make the trip as originally scheduled were Keondre Coburn (Texas commit) and WR Josh Moore. Our Texas site tells us that Coburn had been looking around a little at Oklahoma and Oregon, and they were starting to wonder about his commitment. But not making the trip means the Longhorns are very likely good with him. Or at least, Oregon is out.

Same can be said for Moore. He said he was down to Texas and Oregon, then didn't make it to his official visit. You do the math.
