Trajen Odom is getting closer to making a decision. He has three official visits lined up right now with Ohio State, Oregon and USC set to host him over the first three weekends in June. The Inglewood, California native (who now lives in North Carolina) has been busy crisscrossing the country this offseason getting familiar with many of his options.

Over the weekend he made his second visit to Oregon, and the Ducks continue to make a strong impression on the high three-star defensive lineman. He was able to get a better feel for how he'll fit into the plans for Dan Lanning, and he continues to feel like a priority for the staff.

"Oregon really helped themselves and continued to present me why they are a fit for me. They still sit really high in my list of schools."

One of college football’s brightest young coaches and a top defensive mind, Lanning's focus is not just on competition. His team DNA stems from accountability and toughness. Coach Lanning's Duck football team does not get special treatment or free passes.

Now that spring practice has come and gone, I am curious to find out what is happening, practice-wise, with the team. Are there organized workouts? Freelance workouts?
What is going on now, the latter part of spring quarter, and what will practice/workouts look like this summer?

RECRUITING THOUGHTS

- Dakorien Moore was scheduled to be in Eugene this weekend but that plan has changed as he focuses on track with his teammates at Duncanville. I know it is easy to read a lot into this following his decommitment from LSU, but I don’t think this canceled visit is a sign of anything other than his work with his track team.

- St. Frances Academy was good to Oregon in the 2024 class with cornerback Ify Obidegwu signing with Oregon and looking like he could get some early playing time and start making an impact. His former teammate – Blake Woody – who had been committed to Ohio State since last October has decommitted. The four-star is rated as the No. 35 overall player in the nation and has visited Oregon as recently as last month. I like where Oregon stands here and the staff feel good about where they stand following the visit as well.

After the War Room article on Wednesday a couple of additional visitors were scheduled including Oregon commits Akili Smith, Jr. and Isaiah Mozee.

The other three ‘new’ visitors are very intriguing for different reasons.

Getting elite cornerback – and Ohio State commit – Na’eem Offord on campus is a massive thing for the Ducks. That does not necessarily mean he is going to flip or is on flip watch, but the Ducks would love to get some more traction here and see if there is a chance to get a flip from the 6-1, 175-pound Birmingham (AL) Parker High School five-star. This is the kind of defensive back that Lanning covets and would be a massive story. Definitely someone to keep an eye on over the next couple of months.

Hill is largely thought to be a heavy Ohio State lean which makes a lot of sense given his proximity to the Buckeyes program, but this is another sneaky good visit for the Ducks as they look to continue building a defensive group that shows tremendous promise over the long term a swell as the short term.

As a junior, Hill recorded 36 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 13 sacks and two fumble recoveries. The Ducks have done a good job so far in his recruitment and this visit could make an impact with the 6-3, 220-pound EDGE prospect.

Rivals has Utu as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 8 overall player in the nation. The 6-4, 300-pound five-star is a big target and the Ducks would love to have an heir apparent following this season as it is widely expected that Josh Conerly will likely head to the NFL Draft along with fellow Oregon tackle Ajani Cornelius.

I still think that the Ducks have some work to do here and I do not get a feeling that the Ducks are ‘all in’ just yet, but this visit could give us a much better idea of where the Ducks sit heading into the summer.

Five-star running back Jordon Davison will take an official visit to Oregon next month as he hits the next phase of his recruitment. He's not in a rush to make a decision, but now that he's narrowed his focus to four schools he wants to take official visits to each. The Ducks have been able to keep the relationship going through the coaching change at RB thanks to Will Stein and Dan Lanning, but Ra'Shaad Samples has also been making a positive early impression since taking over the recruitment.

I caught up with Davison to discuss where things stand with Oregon as he hits the next stage of his recruitment.

"The direction the program is trending," he said about why Oregon remains in the running for his commitment. "It's close to home, convenient for my family. I have a lot of teammates up there, so I'll always be familiar with the players up there if I go there. Then, really just the relationships I have with coach (Will) Stein and coach Dan Lanning. Getting to know coach Samples, everything has been amazing."
